Thanks. I'll check out the links. I'm in Arizona, far away from PA...but this is good grilling season out here! Cool, feel free to ask any questions. One other company to look at to just oogle at, this is my money is no object grill that I am currently hard for, Grillworks, an Argentinian asador style grill. Forget charcoal, you are working with wood and embers here. Fell in love with this style during a trip to Argentina years ago. This company makes functional works of art. Some big time chefs are installing these grills in their restaurants. Sweet baby jesus!

Exactly, I'm probably a little too close to just saying eff it, buying one and plopping it onto a open trailer and bringing it to use at the tailgates, lol.

That's the kind of thing that you probably can't pull off yourself but you desperately hope your buddy - who has a lot more free time - invests in. "The guys are going outside to start grilling....we'll see you in about 5 hours."
Me? I just invested in an electric grill for the balcony, but my kids still think its cool to throw things on there so there's that.

You've got me intrigued with the BGE and Kamado Joe. I'm starting to look hard at that Kamado Joe but I'm wondering if 18" would be too small. The Big Joe would be an option at 24" but it would be an interesting conversation for me, a very recreational griller, to have with the wife about spending $1600 on a BBQ......"Wait a minute, it doesn't even have propane? It's essentially a tub that you build your own fire in? Do I have this right?" lol To which I reply, "Yes....now red or black?"

And they can be had for less than that. FWIW they are discontinuing the Black color very soon. They will be only Red going forward. They want to make it their signature color. Cooking with charcoal has a much steeper learning curve than gas. You need to learn direct/indirect cooking to keep from burning stuff.

I definitely always recommend going a little bigger than you think you need. You can always cook less on a bigger grate, but the reverse is not true. Commit to handling more of the summer cooking duties, take some work off her plate. Promise not to bitch as much about the ridiculous money she spends on shoes and handbags and dresses she can only wear once.

I meant the Jet Green grill will burn everything you try to cook inherently, even if you undercook it. Now gimme that damn ribz recipe!
