IMO, Wentz, Goff and Lynch will all be gone by pick 15. So as far as the Jets go, unless they trade up a little I don't think these guys will be around.

Between CLE, SF, STL, PHI and even BUF... Sorry about your tigers bro. I was pulling for them against the Red Empire... Needed Mike Williams out there!!

I'm 100% behind Wentz. He's a smart kid that almost graduated with a 4.0 from college, only played QB in HS for one year so he was lightly recruited, and comes from a family of athletes. He has played a multitude of sports and was particularly good at baseball. Absolutely no red flags that I can find.
What stands out most is his release. It is fast, high, cannon like, and perfect IMO. He's also a tough player and can easily gain yards on the ground. Many detractors say he locks onto his first receiver and I don't see that. He can go through some progressions and is always looking downfield. He's also accurate and can put touch on the ball, especially when hitting his backs out of the backfield.
I'm a big fan of Petty but if he is available at twenty or even a slight trade up you have to pull the trigger. There is a ton of upside with this kid. His level of play is always concerning but I like him better than Winston and Mariota, only difference is he's not ready to play in his first year.

Yep If Wentz went to Oklahoma or Stanford, I think you'd see a lot of people putting him in that Andrew Luck, "once in a generation" category. Elite size, elite arm, elite intangibles, great poise in the pocket and is almost Cam-esque in the open field. Really the only knock on him is the level of competition he faced and maybe he could stand to work on his deep ball accuracy a bit. The more and more I watch and read, I'd have to agree with you. I'd take him at #20 in a heartbeat at this stage and I wouldn't be opposed to trading up 6-7 spots either to leap teams like St. Louis and Buffalo.

This is where the evaporators make their money, the issue of competition and quality of team around them. Not an easy thing to separate that is for sure. There are actually players one would like to see with less gaudy teams to truly know how good they are. I still remember watching some Sanchez hilights before he was drafted and he looked pretty good except he threw off his back foot too much, often had lots of time to throw and his WR's were usually wide open.
I'll have no issue with drafting a Qb pretty well anywhere in the draft but I would not be in favour of a trade up.

I mentioned his release earlier - that was the mark I noticed right away. Great release and accuracy/placement is quite impressive. The learning curve is going to be very real (mechanics & level of competition) but everything points to Wentz being franchise QB with the right development. Just please don't force this guy to start right away.

The other prospect that we talked a lot about in this thread had a great year. Tyrone Holmes #91 won Defensive Player of the Year in the FCS. I believe he had 87 tackles, 18 sacks, and 3FF this year including the playoffs. He's 6'3 245, and could be a good mid-late round OLB sleeper. I can't wait to see him in the Allstar Shine game.

That was the guy abusing the RT all game, correct? Yup, he was blowing him up every play in pass situations and run downs. He sacked Wentz both times he played him this year.

He is now firmly on the radar as a later round sleeper and I'll pay extra attention during the Shrine Game but I'm guessing his tape will be hard to come by. With all of the blank or garbage coverage NFL Network gives, you would think they would cover that game better. So many 4-5-6-7 th rounders come from that game and many elevate to the Senior Bowl and get chosen even higher. When the hell will they get on board with an underclassmen bowl that invites the RS Sophs and Juniors?

Thanks for the reminder. I will be looking for Shrine Game coverage this week, although it will probably be hard to come by. In the last two years, Enunwa, Marcus Williams, Ronald Martin, Wes Saxton and Taiwan Jones have all played in the game. I am sure there are guys going this year who will be on our roster next season.
