Some of you ought to ask yourself what N Korea has to gain by provoking the US. This is the same country desperate to have sanctions lifted as their economy and people are at poverty level essentially. But most (nearly all) people don't ask such questions. Instead, they mindlessly listen to their government and believe them at face value. Ben Franklin would not be proud were he here today. As he said, question your government, question their motives and demand that they go through the people and congress for any international actions. Our government works for us, not the other way around. International lawlessness has run rampant for our growing federal government with no accountability. Yes people should question their governments and I posted the article that says the FBI was wrong. However North Korea is far from a quiet and peaceful country that is trying to get sanctions lifted. They are a despotic regime that starves its people, has horrible concentration camps and is constantly throwing around boasts and rhetoric. www.cnn.com/2013/04/10/world/asia/north-korea-threats-timeline/

That's your democracy at work there that we try to impose on other nations as righteous. You might want to investigate further into who N Korea really is (don't just listen to me and definitely not just to CNN) and try elsewhere than mainstream media if you really want to know the truth. Most people don't want the real truth or don't believe it exists outside our corrupt media and prefer to listen to what they are told. Keep in mind that the media is controlled by the government. And if you're not aware (or don't believe that) of this, I really can't help you. Just continue watching CNN. But just for kicks, I'd suggest researching media from other countries and you might be surprised at the themes that ring consistent about our beloved US of A.

First of all I despise CNN and never watch it. It was just the first Google hit I got. Second the "torture" you are talking about that the US committed would be a nice walk in the park for someone in North Korea. Our PRISONERS were fed well and were not violently tortured. We did go above and beyond what we feel is acceptable and that was the issue but North Korean prison camps are horribly brutal existences where GENERATIONS of people live. Third, yes, America is not perfect but why would I believe the lies of other countries over the lies of our own? At least in America there are differing points of view in the media. Our media isn't controlled by the government but it is strongly influenced. You keep believing your anti-US propaganda and thinking that North Korea is just a poor misunderstood country that wants peace on Earth.

It doesn't work like that anymore and those days are LONG gone. And they aren't coming back either. They have control of it all now. They will never just let go of that without destroying everything with every resource at their disposal including every weapon they own. There's no good end to this. Just the way it is. It's gonna get ugly, especially when people try to REALLY stand up to it. I have no suggestions or solutions that are remotely reasonable or realistic. Just gotta go about your shit and try to enjoy what you can, what little it may be.

And if anyone rose up against this government to demand true transparency to go thought the people with their actions, they'd be squashed (and are) as the government has access to everyone's motives through internet, phone and other public records. They have a profile on every person. As witnessed the past two years, the CIA, NSA, IRS, State dept, Justice Dept are all on the take and routinely conduct operations unknown to even the oversight committees assigned to them, much less you and I. These are rogue agencies assigned to the WH to take of things the way they want. No permission.

I don't simply believe in one side or the other but I'm now always suspicious of anything coming out of our media. I now look a little deeper than simply what someone said today. For decades this is what I did. And I would typically stand on the side of right (US), the one yelling loudest. I'm not going to argue with you here but I wouldn't simply assume that what we hear about NK from our media is the truth. Understand that false flag efforts have gone on for decades and even centuries to start wars and overthrow countries for dominance. If you read deeper, you'll see what this all about. This has nothing to do with so-called "atrocities". That's simply a tired and rehashed buzz term to get the population behind any efforts to overthrow and terrorize. Sadly, it still works.

So you don't believe there are brutal prison camps in North Korea?

So you don't believe there are brutal prison camps in North Korea? The labor camps? Whatever. Why is this an issue now? What reason would the US be meddling at this time? The camps have been around for a long time. These are the questions you have to ask. On top of what is it of our business dictating to the world how they should conduct their lives and start another war over it. Sanctions aren't enough, now we need additional action. Look deeper into the why's. Don't just take one side. Keep in mind the media blitz and Hollywood contribution designed to stir emotions and fear into the general public which will allow for action to take place without public disapproval. Also, you might want to take note of what's been going on in Ukraine. Lowering of oil as well. Start connecting dots and you'll see that such trivial matters as labor camps isn't at all the issue.

Just because someone doesn't come to the same conclusions as you doesn't mean that they are only looking at one side or aren't looking deeply or elsewhere. North Korea is a nuclear power and currently has some of the worst human rights violations in the world. I am not saying that we should invade or start a war of any kind, not sure where you got that from. All I have said is that the country is run by a tyrant and is abusing the majority of its people. You are the one that made the ludicrous connection between the human rights violations in North Korea and the "torture" of American prisoners.

Pretty much all his thoughts about the govs Governments not giving up power willingly is pretty much a given no? Not exactly insightful. Few leaders are like Washington and the founding fathers that were looking to limit the government's power even their own. It would take a governmental renaissance with those kinds of personalities to revert the power to the people where it truly belongs. Ron Paul was one of those guys IMO and the establishment squashed him as often as possible. As for the "government controls the media" nonsense the definitely have an influence but there are enough counter viewpoints available in America today to make the lack of knowledge willful rather than imposed. Most people just don't care enough to look into the details unless it is to see photoshopped pics of Kim Karsasian's ass or honey boo boo.
