At the same time he ruled with an iron fist and all the acquisitions were directly a result of his influence I'm thinking more like a flacid fist People need to make up their minds, it can't be both

I'm thinking more like a flacid fist People need to make up their minds, it can't be both I think it does not matter now, it's Christmas Day 2014 and Rex will be Persona-Ex-Jets in five days.

I'm thinking more like a flacid fist I think you're thinking more of a sandwich, coupled in with a pic of his wife's feet and then another snack and a blitz for Clemson and then of course the Terminator being taken to the prom by Kyle Burnt Toast Wilson with Mark Sanchez the MC and smoking a joint in the back with Rob with another blitz for Clemson and Pettine screaming from the back room saying you can't do that Rex. Nice now that's a sweet scene, everything but the Baby J. in there.

FWIW I think Idzy gets offered a reassignment in the organization. Especially since it is going to be hard to get an entire new staff in before FA and the draft. Oh god no!!! The last thing we need is another Terry Bradway situation. And they haven't fired that worthless chump at all. Now we're going to have two worthless chumps? Woody better give Idzik the boot and not "re-assign him"... Not saying it's likely, but it is possible that Idzik will explain his "plan" to Casserly and Wolf and they will recommend that Woody keep Idzik and fire Bradway.

Not a chance You don't go after heavyweights like Wolf and Casserly to merely have a sitdown with Idzik to get his side of the story. You go after heavyweights like Wolf and Casserly when you're seeking their advice in making radical changes. Both guys are on the new council that the NFL created last year to help teams look for GM and HC candidates. There's no question that Woody is cleaning house. And I can't think of many more qualified people than Wolf and Casserly to pinpoint a promising GM candidate with a strong scouting and personnel background.

I'm thinking more like a flacid fist People need to make up their minds, it can't be both It really doesn't matter which way. He either helped pick bad players or doesn't know enough to be involved in the process or didn't care. Fireable offenses no matter how you slice it. I think Rex was heavily involved when Tanny was here and perhaps he became apathetic under Idzik b.c he felt his days were numbered.

I'm a Rex supporter but we need some change, a reboot on the team, so I'm not against letting him go. The best argument I've heard which I can't disagree with is that Rex has been the constant through 2 GMs, 2 QBs, and 3 OCs. Even though you could make a case that ALL of those guys are subpar (an incredible streak of ineptitude itself in not being able to improve the personnel in those positions over 5 years), at some point you have to say a refresh is needed.
The ONLY thing I'll be critical of is if there's no upgrade at the HC position. Change for the sake of change isn't good. You can't simply say the team is better without Rex, because that is not true. It's not addition by subtraction here. We need someone who, in total, is a better HC than Rex Ryan. Rex had his faults....poor in-game management with regard to clock and penalties, little/no control or grasp of the offense, etc., but he also had his strengths. He is absolutely an elite defensive coach and his ability to come up with new and creative ways to befuddle some of the games best like SparklePony, Manning, etc. is remarkable, even the 7, 8 and 9th time he faces them he still surprises them. Rex is also a very good motivator and seems to get more out of guys than many other coaches would. Last year's team had 5 or 6 win talent and won 8 games, this year's group is underperforming but not by much. This again, is about a 5 win roster and it's performed like one for the most part.
So again, we're going to cut loose one of the elite defensive coaches and master motivators in the head coaching ranks, so that we can alleviate ourselves of a guy who didn't pay much attention to the offense and wasn't a strong enough disciplinarian when it comes to clock, penalties, efficiency. We better find an upgrade.

His cluelessness on O where he chooses to run the type of O he would salivate to play against, and his desire to be popular in the locker room are the reasons he can not be successful as a HC.
