If Mo goes anywhere it's because he'll be traded should a base 4-3 defense be decided upon. Players don't just follow coaches as they need to use their leverage once their contract is up for the highest market value that they worked for. If Rex's (if he gets a HC gig) team happened to have money to outbid most other teams if/when Mo hit FA and has a need at the position, then yeah but Wilk doesn't hold any cards for that to happen and neither do any other players. Harris is a FA this year so he can follow him.

Please point out how many of those points allowed by the Jets were a direct result of the offensive turnovers? I eagerly await your reply. I don't know for sure. But other teams committed a lot of turnovers as well. Cutler and Eli were both turnover machines, for example.
But more importantly, Rex's defense produced a ridiculously low amount of turnovers. Think it was under 14, least in the league, least ever for a Jets team. We would've given up less points (and scored more on offense) if the defense could've caused more turnovers.
The defense was not good, that "6th ranked by yardage" means little.
The Jets offense led the league in turnovers and ranked dead last in red zone eff and 31st in passing -- in a passing league. If you go back and look at the games and the critical turnovers by VaGeno you will see that those turnovers were the margin of wins and losses. When you are giving up 7 points to the other team in reality that's a 14 poitn swing; emphasized further when you lose by a TD or less. As for our defense, we all knew before the season began that it was going to regress. Heck, we had no corners. We fielded a high school secondary the entire season for God's sake. Why are you surprised that the defense regressed? In fact, I am surprised it performed as well as it did as the year progressed.

Look don't take this wrong, I like a lot of your posts, but wtf do you need to see? 4 years no playoffs 2 shitty OC hires and plenty of other shite staff hires. 2 GM's 2 young QB's 5-6 1st round picks on Defense. 4-12 record. A putrid offense for his entire tenure. Terrible in game manager.
where do you draw the line? When is enough enough for you? I get people like his personality, but FFS this is borderline obsession with some peope. Are we Jet or Rex Ryan fans? I am a Jets fan, period. That's why I am upset. I have seen this morbid franchise repeat the same mistakes time-and-time again as a lifelong fan. We did the same dumb shit this morning as we have the past 30 years I am following the team. As for our 4-12 record, with the lack of talent and a QB who was a turnover machine, I could easily argue we could have won 6/7 more games. That in itself is amazing! So in other words...no matter how much we suck under Rex, it will always be someone else's fault but his? No one loves Rex as much as Woody, even he has the balls to face up to reality slapping him square in the face. What do you love most about Rex? It's the teeth ain't it?

Jesus, stop being such a fucking pussy! Rex had to go, period. It was time.
Pull your panties up, and here's a box of fucking Kleenex.
You're acting like a bunch of Kansas City faggots.
Thanks for this brilliant post. GFY! I disagree with you and JetStream about Rex... but I support this post.

Yup. It's not always easy to swim upstream against the current but I think firing Rex was a mistake. Idzik totally fucked him this year and now Rex gets swept up as Woody tries to clean house. It's like Idzik took Phil Mickelson and handed him a tree branch instead of a putter, and then criticized him when he couldn't hit a 30 foot putt. So we get rid of the golfer instead of blaming the tree branch. Crazy. Look don't take this wrong, I like a lot of your posts, but wtf do you need to see? 4 years no playoffs 2 shitty OC hires and plenty of other shite staff hires. 2 GM's 2 young QB's 5-6 1st round picks on Defense. 4-12 record. Good post and all fair points. I've always said that when the HC has been the same, you give him 3 OCs, 2 QBs and 2 GMs, then when do you actually blame the HC for the failings? I can't argue that point. However, the QUANTITY of those people in those positions isn't the problem. It's the QUALITY. I have never once heard someone say, "I'm shocked that the Jets aren't winning significantly with Geno Smith," "I'm shocked that Andy Reid didn't take Marty to KC with him," "I'm shocked that Tannenbaum isn't a GM somewhere else," "I'm shocked that the teams where Schottenheimer and Sparano are coaching are 9 - 23." If you took a race car driver like Jeff Gordon and gave him a Yugo, then a Toyota Prius, and then a Dodge Dart and he still wasn't winning races, do you blame the driver for not winning the Indy 500? "But....we gave him 3 different cars! It had to be him even though when he had a true, well-equipped NASCAR car in 2009 and 2010 he was finishing in the Top 4." Rex is far from perfect but my opinion is that the good outweighed the bad. The biggest problem is that the Jets organization NEVER REALIZED HOW TO EMPHASIZE THE GOOD WITH REX AND MITIGATE THE BAD. The guy is a great defensive coach and motivator. He's not good with offense and he's not great at hiring/personnel. So a smart team would recognize that you need a true football guy at the GM spot to help hire the RIGHT OC and get the right players. The Jets took an excellent head coach who had some deficiencies and THEY NEVER HELPED WITH THE DEFICIENCIES. Rex never worked under a GM who was a true football guy. We went from an overspending bean counter to an under spending bean counter. That's going backwards.

Here's hoping we all are laughing in the future when we look back at this day reflecting on what it took to get us to the promised land -- a SB trophy! Otherwise, anything less is a failure imo.

Take a step back. 6 years and in two of those we had great success. many things have changed as Harrier mentioned. If we look at this completely objectively (ala a science experiment) doesn't it make sense that the constant very well might have been the issue. I am being honest when I say that I THINK your emotional attachment to Rex might be overriding the logic I know you have (we have agreed on plenty of stuff in the past and you always have been reasonable). Maybe I am off, but don't you think it is a little overboard to say that this is a blatantly obvious mistake? JMHO

I've said my peace. I think firing Rex was a mistake. My approach would have been Fire Idzik, Retain Rex, get a strong offensive-minded GM and a new QB. But at this point we're moving forward. The one thing I will say that I fear is a long, slow rebuild because I think we had a bad offense and a defense that, with Rex, was 2 CBs away from being elite again. Now I see us taking a step back on D and still have the league's 31st offense. One positive - The Jets have managed to turn things around quickly before. We had a rookie HC take the Jets to the AFCCG with a rookie QB, so it can be done, but again, it was done primarily with defense and Rex's scheme. I'm trying to stay positive but until we see the direction with the GM and HC there's a major risk that things get worse before they get better.
