Is he a safety, LB, corner? At only 6' 205 pounds he certainly doesn't have the size to be a hybrid LB in the NFL. He doesn't have the one on one coverage skills to play corner, so I guess that leaves safety. Thus far he hasn't really demonstrated an ability to be a ball hawking FS in the NFL, for a defensive back to have received so much acclaim he only has ONE interception in his whole college CAREER, and that came this past week against OSU. So SS seems to be his best position in the NFL. Would you really use the 5th pick of the draft on him?
I myself would pass on him that high. Is he being a bit overrated right now?

I think if you put him at CB, you have a very good, legit #1 CB after a year or two.
If you put him at FS, you have a franchise type of player on defense for the next decade along the lines of Ed Reed and Troy Polamalu.
Him and Fournette are neck and neck as my top player in the draft for the Jets, assuming Garrett is out of the discussion.
Projects to be an Eric Berry type at safety IMO
Personally my ideal scenario would be drafting Fournette and signing Berry himself in FA after we cut dead weight like Revis, Gilchrist, etc.

I get the exact same vibe and I would pissed if we drafted him, so consider him a Jet next year. He's way overrated in the media at this point and is a guy that will get over drafted....maybe

I've been watching Peppers since he was at Paramus Catholic (we both went to the same high school). The kid has always been an athletic phenom, but I've always felt that the tape on him never quite lived up to the reputation. I don't think Peppers is fluid enough to play CB, so I think he is going to play safety at the next level. Generally speaking, I don't like picking safety in the top 10 because I don't think it is as valuable a position as others (such as CB). Obviously, you have exceptions such as Ed Reed and Polamalu, but i don't think Peppers is on that level. Honestly, I think Jamal Adams is a better prospect than Peppers. I think Peppers is a rich man's Deone Buchanan and I don't want that at pick number 5.

Good football player, better athlete. Once in a while someone comes along who can do a few things really well, but it ultimately doesn't translate into a position in the pros. Just look at my boy Taylor mays. He'd be a lethal LB if he had the frame and weight. He'd be a decent corner if he didn't have cement hips.
Peppers will play productive football, but he's a stretch in the 1st IMO.

I hear people throw around the Deone Buchanan comparison a lot regarding Peppers, but Deone is an inch taller and 20 pounds heavier. As a hybrid in the NFL I think Peppers will get man-handled when coming down to play LB. I love Jamal Adams as well. He is one of my favorite players in this draft. He is big and long, extremely athletic, tackles well and has lined up against slot receivers one on one in coverage. He is a total complete FS in the NFL and someone who can play from day one.

Now, with our second pick do we try to get a QB? or better yet, what the hell are we going to do at QB... Watson? Kelly?

Peppers is the second best high school player I've ever seen play live, Brian Cushing being the best.
I just don't know about Pepper's size and a defensive position.
All that other stuff returning kicks and playing offense is an enticing gimmick but it may just be a gimmick.
Rather have Cook then Fournette.

Jack of all trades, master at none. I don't think he'll ever develop the coverage skills to become a #1 CB. To me he's either a NCB or SS. There is no way he can be a LB at the next level. He's too small and gets washed out. I pray that we don't take him with our first pick. He'll get over drafted because of his versatility in college which is overrated. The people that compare him to Tyrann Mathieu are idiots. Mathieu could actually cover and was a turnover machine. You would have to build your entire defense around him to make him effective. A top 5-10 pick should be able to play well no matter what. At this point I'm not sure I'd even take him in the 1st round.

He can be a dynamic offensive player if he chose. He's a true two-way player.

He can be a dynamic offensive player if he chose. He's a true two-way player. How many two way players are in the NFL? The only one I can remember that made a slight impact was Troy Brown. He was one the most mediocre players ever to play the game. If you're great at something they have you do it. If you're playing a bunch of positions it's because you're not great at anything.
