Then there is also this report from Florio
I love this kind of reporting. Bowles may or may not be safe. Nice job by Florio, no matter what happens, he called it right.
My thoughts on the Jets QB: Bryce Petty may or may not suck today.

Florio's argument is that Bowles is safe unless we look really bad (Monday Night kind of bad) down the stretch. We are a 3-9 team. Starting an inexperienced QB. We are bound to look really bad at times down the stretch.

The second tweet about leadership is really interesting to me.
I don't know who the real leaders are on this team outside Harris and Mangold. I had really began to assume Mangold was a goner, but maybe they will keep him around for one last year to help set the base of the culture they want.

I agree - I really don't see where the leadership is coming from aside from those two. Decker maybe, but he has not been around the team this year. Hopefully Mangold will be amenable to a pay cut this season -- unless he want to go somewhere he has a chance to win to close out his career. And if we do have to move on from him, it will be a lot easier if Wesley Johnson continues to play well over this last month. Edit: Just saw this in an article by Cimini: Mangold doesn't reveal too much publicly, but one person who knows him told me this season has been exceptionally hard on the former Pro Bowl center. This person said he wouldn't be shocked if Mangold, who turns 33 next month, decides to retire. He's under contract for 2017, but his cap charge is a prohibitive $9.1 million. Tough decisions are looming for Mangold and the Jets.

Bowles knows football and he never really had a lot to work with from the start, he's lost me the last few weeks but continuity may be the best case scenario here.
Massive offseason for Macc as we see this "plan" of his unfold, he's really startin to get on my tits so my eye will be on his every move this offseason.

I want Bowles gone as part of this rebuild. No more rookie head coaches, my criteria includes a disciplinarian, proven winner, offensive minded and someone who is comfortable in the spotlight but does not want to be the center of attention. In other words I'm sick of the Jets on the job training program for coaches. I have a few people in mind but they are getting older, one which fits my criteria is Mike Westoff. Since he was a special teams guy, I don't know about my offensive minded talking point, and he age is not a plus.

Harris has gotten a lot of shit from people but he was one of the few hitting hard Monday night. And I know it's a business, but it bugs me we can't show show some loyalty to a guy like Mangold, who stuck it out all these years, always a positive attitude, and who probably could have jumped to another team with a shot at the superbowl.

I think they're definitely the hardest workers but I don't know about team leaders. I wanna see a leader make guys accountable. Rally them. Put guys in their place. I don't see either of them doing that. And that's what they need the most.

You can't have it both ways. If we need to rebuild it means making the tough decisions, otherwise you end up in the same purgatory state we've been in forever. If anything, we'd be doing him a favor by letting him sign with a more competitive team.

Been saying that since Rex purged the Mangini guys. I love Brick, Mangold and Harris but none of them was ever a real outgoing leader.
