Bowles and Mac will get an opportunity to bust on a first round QB before they get the ax. That seems to be the status quo these days.

Mac may have a chance after drafting a QB in round 1 in 2018 but who knows. There's no QB worthy of a first rd grade this upcoming draft imo, so that's the twist.

Another twist is Woody possible becoming an Ambassador. Does he want to go through the whole hiring process while setting up his shop in England. Even if he has a proxy he trusts I still think he would want to be heavily involved in the process. He is going to have a lot on his plate. And there is no obvious blue chip QBs to lure big name candidates.

I want Bowles gone as part of this rebuild. No more rookie head coaches, my criteria includes a disciplinarian, proven winner, offensive minded and someone who is comfortable in the spotlight but does not want to be the center of attention. In other words I'm sick of the Jets on the job training program for coaches. I have a few people in mind but they are getting older, one which fits my criteria is Mike Westoff. Since he was a special teams guy, I don't know about my offensive minded talking point, and he age is not a plus. This is wrong for a number of reasons... Bowles is the best person for this team next year whether people here like it or not. Swapping out coaches every few years does more harm than good. He has one good year and one bad year...both with mostly the same shitty players. Sorry but common sense says he gets at least one more year because it makes sense and we have a lot of young players who need the continuity. Additionally, hiring a retread coach that was fired somewhere else to come get fired here in another 2 years because the same players suck isnt going to work either. The better, experienced coaches scare easy if they have to wonder if they only have a 2 year shot plus they are going to have a challenge getting good assistants if there is a concern about having time to implement a plan. There isnt one good, experienced head coach out there I want.....anyone who is screaming cowler, gruden needs to wake up they have been out of the game waaay too long. I dont want them coming back and trying to "learn on the job" how the new NFL is being run from the sidelines. Jim Harbaugh is the only name I'd seriously want but he isnt leaving Michigan to come to this dumpster fire even if we lined up the blowjob brigade from his front door all the way to metlife stadium. Mike Westhoff? are you serious? I loved the guy as a special teams coach but nothing more...he would be a rookie as well, has been out of the league a few years, isnt offensive minded as far as we know and comes off more like a grumpy old man than an innovative offensive coach who can put together the kind of team many here have been waiting for all these years. Next off season I might be on the fire Bowles train but this year that just isnt a good plan for the short term or long term. Most people here are just reactionary and flow with the wind. Case in point if you look at the game thread from the sf game, in the first half we were hanging the team and petty but the last 10 pages or so there was a distinctly different tone. Jets fans are quick to complain and quick to give up on something.....why is anyone here shocked the players are the same way?

When discussing last year, most fans say it was the soft schedule. Or they were Rex's players. All of a sudden overnight they became Bowles players. And he is a horrible coach. As for Westoff, someone please list the special teams coaches that have become successful head coaches.

Westhoff = Bobb McKittrick. Dangerous, novel blocking schemes.

Call me nuts, call me crazy, I thought Petty showed a great deal of leadership as a greenhorn and rallied a team showing the possibility of a second consecutive humiliation.

Think the right thing is to not get too excited, but shared the same feeling. Its just so weird to see a Jet player get better on the field... I just hope we can protect him a bit more so he can get the ball downfield, and find Marshall a bit more...

Agree that Petty showed poise late in the game and made some plays -- especially after a such brutal start. But the veteran who stepped up, put the team on his back and refused to lose was Bilal Powell. I really hope to see him get a shot as a feature back over these last 3 games -- regardless of Forte's health. All the guy ever does is make plays, and yet he has not been able to get on the field. Lets see if he can handle 20 carries a game over this last month.
