As we get closer I deviate towards what I think the Jets will do, this time around however, I'm going with what I would do.
Notable moves:
Cuts/FA: Giaco (Cut) Revis (retires), Winters (wants too much $$), Gilchrist (injury settlement/cut), Harris (part ways), Clady gone. Trade: Richardson to SF for a 3rd rnd pick (top of the 3rd). resign/restructure; Mangold
FA signings; OT Andrew Whitworth, OG Ron Leary, CB D. Kirkpatrick, FS C. Conte, ILB K. Minter
DRAFT: Jets trade back 8 spots (IND moves up to take Fournette to pair with Luck. We get a 2nd this year and 1st next year)
1- RB D. Cook (Fl St) 2- OLB T. McKinley (UCLA)... the real deal! 2- OT. F. Lamp (wku) 3- QB L. Falk (wazzu) 3- CB C. Sutton (ten) 4- TE J. Sprinkle (Ark) 5- WR J. Lane (arkron)
Loose roster:
QB: Petty, Falk, Hackenberg RB: Cook, Powell, Forte WR: Marshall, Decker, Q Enunwa, R Anderson, D Smith, J Lane TE: ASJ, Sprinkle, Bostick OL: Whiteworth, Carpenter, Leary, Mangold, W. Johnson, B. Shell, F. Lamp
DL: Williams, Wilkerson, McLendon, Simon LB: Lee, Jenkins, Mauldin, McKinley, Minter, Ochi DB: Kirkpatrick, Burris, Skrine, Pryor, Conte, Sutton, Williams
Thoughts? Would you be excited?

Not bad and obviously I love everything about the draft. At this stage of the game I think Sprinkle is criminally undervalued but I would like to see another lineman added to the mix.
Only thing I would change is not restructuring Mangold, just let him play out his contract. You're also not getting another 1st next year by moving down 8 slots, IMO that's unrealistic. And a big no to Whitworth, enough with signing these over the hill vets.

I know he's 34/35 years old but he's still one of the Top 5 LT's in the game and has shown no signs of slowing down. I think someone like Reiff is probably more realistic, but I'd prefer Whitworth on a short deal.

I like the draft but, like Rob said, no way you get a second and a future 1 for dropping 8 spots. After trading away a first on Trent Richardson a couple years ago, Indy will be gun shy trading away that much resources for another RB. They are better standing pat and just taking Cook and not have to give away any more picks. I doubt you even get a third for Sheldon anymore, that dude is toxic right now.
I love McKinley as well, he has a chance to rise up boards as the pre draft work outs and testing commence. Wouldn't be surprised to see him go mid to late first round.

I forgot about the T-Rich deal ^^, That does poor a some water on my fire. Fournette comes with more lustre than Trent though. I do honestly believe we'll have some kind of trade back opportunity -- and it'll be for Fournette's services. Someone will fall in love with the dream.
Rob -- be real dude. Our O-line is in worse shape than Johnny Football. We're not going to fix the whole thing in this draft and you and I know both know there's no Tyron Smith. We NEED to find out more about these QBs and/or protect whoever the future is. We need a holdover at LT. In that scenario we continue to flesh out Shell, develop future LT lamp and bring in stalwort OG in Leary. You should be doing somersaults. I watched the bowl game for Memphis' QB Ferguson but after Lamp's TD in the game I went back and watched him again, and have been falling in love all this week.
PS. to trade up from 13 to 5 (for eg) is definitely going to net a 1st and more if there's competition. I don't see 1st and a 2nd this year as out of the question in the Fournette hype train gets back on course.

And as much as I like Lamp, which I do, even I'm worried the length isn't there for him to be a LT down the road. We need to draft a couple of lineman if we had all of those picks because you can get good players outside of the first round....the league is littered with them.....well except for us. I'm sure you've seen my posts on Antonio Garcia, he's a true LT at the next level and by the time this process is over they'll be even more names. It happens every single year.

I guess when I broke down picks, it just comes down to value. There's not a ton of it (that I've seen yet) on the oline in the draft. McKinley for example is far superior prospect to any olineman at that point. Same with Falk. Same with Sutton. etc

I really like the draft picks, but I doubt we get anything higher than a 5th for Richardson. He's a headcase and is getting paid 8 mil next year.I can't see many teams wanting to give up picks for that. Plus they've all seen how he's rubbed off on Wilk. I think there's a decent chance we get nothing and wind up cutting him.

Looks good. The only modifications I would make are adding some sort of veteran presence at QB and I'd like to sign an edge rusher in FA.

We have no OL to open holes for this player and we have no QB anyone is afraid of throwing the ball down field . Depending on how bad the injury is to Ryan Ramczyk is my Top target in this draft . This probably means I will have to trade down some which I am fine with anyway.

However, Cook is an elite talent, and will most likely have a great career. All the LTs that will be available at 5-6 have massive question marks. You don't pass up an elite player for a reach. That's how you wind up with the next Jason Smith or Greg Robinson.

I like the draft, although I agree with others that we will not be able to get a 3 for Sheldon. I would happily take a 5 or even a 6 for him to get that cancer and his $8MM salary off of this team. I am not sure McKinley makes it to the 2nd round, but would love it if we could come away with Cook/Mckinley.
I like the idea of signing a starting LT, we desperately need OL help (understatement of the year) but why would Andrew Whitworth want to sign with us. 35 years old, 11 seasons in the league, never won a playoff game. As long as he has options, he is not coming to the Jets, and he is likely to have options.

For all of you guys that are proponents of signing Whitworth maybe you can explain to me why he's playing guard tonight. Top 5 LT in the league....lmao.

There was speculation all week that they would move Whitworth to Guard for the last 2 games to begin getting a look at Ogbuehi at LT. so there!

That's how you wind up with the next Jason Smith or Greg Robinson. You will get no argument from me about the Talent of Cook, because the guy has everything you look for in a RB . Guy runs with speed and power, can block and catch the ball like a receiver out of the backfield and has that wiggle Fournette doesn't that allows him to make defenders miss in the open field or at the LOS . However, it's my believe that with our present QB situation, and behind our OL, he's the Gurley of 2016 and labeled by this fast food media and fan base. I would love to draft Cook and have him be our Elliot, but the problem is we don't have either of the 2 things Elliot have in Dallas . What we have is what Gurley has with the Rams here in the 2016 season .
My plan is to rebuild the OL and the secondary and find a solid RB along the way . Right now, my target at RB for along the way is Wayne Gallman from Clemson . As a matter of fact, I would like to come away from this draft with these players .
OT : Ryan Ramczyk - Wisconsin CB : Desmond King - Iowa OC : Jon Toth - Kentucky RB : Wayne Gallman - Clemson
