Why isn't this a 100% chance? It should be.
Instead, I believe the Jets will offer a huge pay cut and Mevi$ will take it because he knows he's got nothing left.
So he'll sleepwalk his way through another season making his last $7M-$8M payday at the Jets expense.

I think it's about a 32% - maybe 34% chance Mangold gets cut. Although I hope not.
And I'd put Breno at right around 87.5%.

you know you want these guys to do well and say "geez the guy is only 32" but then you thing of all the grief he's caused with his past hold outs and then this season coming into training camp out of shape. the jets don't owe revis a thing and they really shouldn't believe him if he says he will come back to play safety or in shape or ready to play or whatever. it's time to move on although i guess if he signed for the vet minimum and showed something in camp he should be given a chance. we know that won't happen.

If this dumb fuck releases our best wrs in decker and Marshall I will be done and this is idzik all over again . What if he consolidates the money saved by releasing (or trading) Decker and Marshall and uses it to procure one younger, better receiver, like say Alshon Jeffery? We don't need both of them (Enunwa can be a #2 and Anderson can be a #3), so why not essentially exchange them for a longer-term #1? SaveSave

He's not the future and the Jets need to think about the future. However, I would not be surprised if he restructured and returned on a smaller contract, but if he does so, I think it is entirely possible that he will have a good, not spectacular, but solidly good, season. The guy is a greedy SOB, but he also has a ton of pride. No way he comes back if he thinks he will stink again. And IMO that rests entirely upon whether he has completely recovered from right arm/wrist injury. You can trace his precipitous drop off in play to that injury. It was first called a sore right shoulder, than he had surgery on his right wrist. Perhaps you remember the finale against the Bills in 2015 where he played almost exclusively off coverage against Watkins --- Well that was about where it started. He is nothing close to his former self (father time gets us all) but that arm injury hurt his game more than any of the experts are willing to concede. Revis' success was premised upon his ability to jam at the line and press cover. WRs would marvel that a quick jab of Revis extending his right arm and striking with the heel of his palm would feel like an anvil. Ever since he injured his right wrist and shoulder, he has lost the ability to effectively jam, thereby making him ineffective in press coverage, and forcing him to play more off-coverage (which he is not good at).

SaveSaveNot necessarily a fan of signing a guy like Jeffrey, but if we release Marshall, who caught less than 50% of his targets last year anyway and will be 33 years old next month, and we replace him with say a Mike Williams or Corey Davis in the draft and use the $7.5MM we save to sign a starter elsewhere -- maybe OL which has a weak draft class, that would work for me. I don't see us releasing both Decker and Marshall, but given Marshall's age and drop in production, I think it is time to move on.
