I don't think anybody retires at 55 unless they are in law enforcement. IMO Trump is actually going to increase benefits for early retirement so that he can cut the work force through attrition because he is going to have a hell of time if he starts trying RIF. I'm having a hard time understanding why law enforcement should be able to retire at 55... and how in god's name is it ok that they continue to get handouts for the rest of their lives?! WTF is up with THAT? How is that remotely ok??? If they want a check they need to get their asses up and get to WORK. Instead of being lazy asses sucking on the taxpayer tit with their handouts. because they risk their own lives going to work every day to try and save your life?

Devil's (Hashman's) Advocate: Aren't there desk jobs that they could be doing when they advance in age? Not every cop is out responding in minutes when seconds count. I assume the argument is that the older guys are the highest paid so why keep them if you don't have to but then if you are paying them anyway...

The extra infrastructure is exactly what they are talking about dumping. You also realize that they are enticing with early retirement benefits, don't you? They are paying people $40K to get out. You think they'd prefer to give them "desk jobs"?

Yet I see everyday people who are self employed who cant get insurance except for ONE available carrier. Premiums went from $500 a month to $1,800 in 2 years. I have a lot of friends and acquaintences in my area who ran into the same thing... sure they had insurance, just couldnt afford to use it. But hey, the govt can say they're covered!!

His salary was $140K and his pension for life will be about $108K plus health insurance. Good gig if you can get it... problem is , his neighbor is retired bricklayer whose property taxes on his 1500 SQ FT home are $11,000 to pay these pensions. Its the main reason I left the metropolitan area.

Paying people $100k a year plus benefits not to work and kids fresh out of school can't find jobs that pay half of that. Sounds sustainable. Hypocrite libtards are fleeing to conservative states, turning them blue. Soon there will be no safe haven from the drunken sailors who we are forced to fund.

It is just like the illegal immigrants, the muslims, etc. They flee there to get here but then the bring "there" here. Liberals the reason you left the blue states is because taxes were too high and you imported too many problems. Don't try to recreate that here. If you wanted that life then why did you leave? Most Immigrants and all Refugees, the reason you left your country is because it is a backwards ass shit hole where there was no chance to improve your life and death was right around the corner. Don't try to recreate that here. If you wanted that life then why did you leave?

We used to be attractive bc we were the land of opportunity. People just looking for a chance. Now they are attracted to the free stuff. Europe offers much more than we do in terms of social welfare and they require much less in return. Thats why they have it even worse than we do.
