Sorry man, but it looks like they did exactly what I said they would. Cue metal soundtrack, lots o' shooting, rage scream, conspiracy plotline. This is like 90s era comic movie crap. It's real simple. Guy's family caught in wrong place at wrong time, victims of random violence. Only way to combat is systematic elimination of all possible variables. This? This is goofy. Not being a Punisher purist, doesn't matter to me if it's random gang members or a government conspiracy. I guess the conspiracy angle is a way to put their own twist on the story. Besides I love govt conspiracy movies where the aggrieved badass gets to infiltrate impenetrable secure govt buildings and kill all the bad G Men. I also love seeing mass shoostings and stuff getting all blowed up. So I'm good with this. _

The Punisher, purist or not, is systematic, smart, and brutal. This? This is just a rage-fest, and possibly the most unfaithful thing Marvel has put out on the face of it. Guess that makes me the outlier.
Also, Netflix missed a great opportunity to do a tie-in with Nuke, which could've been epic. At least would've made the BigBadGubbmint conspiracy thing work.

Meh I wouldn't call it a rage fest just because the guy lets out a roar while firing a bigass M60 ready to turn some dude into marinara. Even going back to his mid-70's appearances in Spider-Man, there were plenty of panels of Frank with mouth agape, gun in each hand just fucking guys up. Hell, the scene where he's staring down and blasts the guy when asking about his family is about as vintage Frank Castle as I've seen on the screen. Cold, emotionless, and ready to do away with whatever asshole doesn't give him the answers he seeks. This isn't going to be the next Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad, but it should at least be a nice, action packed crime drama with some real badass moments. At least I hope it is Because after 3 failed movies and now getting his own series, if this fails we might not see another depiction of The Punisher on screen for many, many years.

How do we know he's not systematic, smart and brutal? I can't tell from that trailer. I'm guessing for him to somehow infiltrate the darkest parts of the black ops government, he's gotta be pretty smart, his infiltration is going to be systematic. And he looks brutal. Again, I'm not a Punisher purist, I'm not a comic book purist. Just like to see shit get all blowed up. _

I'm really hoping you're right. But as you know, I've had reservations all along, casting on down. Thing is, the Punisher is so devoid of an emotional hook, so the depiction of the character needs to be precise, otherwise it risks alienating fans, as well as casual observers of the "been there, done that" mindset. Howard Stern was sent the first few episodes of The Punisher and was raving about it the other week. punishercentral.blogspot.pt/2017/10/pc-post-381-look-whos-already-seen.html?m=1"I'm watching Punisher and I'm like... You know... This is the greatest fucking thing. America has perfected entertainment!" "... I told you that I watched multiple episodes of the Punisher and it's pretty good. I like that guy... Who plays the Punisher... from the Walking Dead.. He's pretty good. The only critique I have is that it should even have more people getting killed. That's not enough death. But it's good..."

Also saw Blade Runner 2049 last night
Holy shit
Much better than it has any right to be. One of the best sequels ever made and the kind of sci-fi movie that doesn't see the light of day in the 21st century. Glad they put it in the hands of Denis Villeneuve instead of Ridley Scott's senile ass.
Probably could've been trimmed a bit (movie is damn near 3 hours) but since I'm a massive fan of the original, it didn't feel like a chore to sit through at all.
Also love how they didn't shove the "Deckard is a replicant" crap down your throat like Ridley Scott did in the later cuts of the first movie.
It's left totally ambiguous like in the theatrical cut of the original.

New anthology series inspired by the great sci-fi author Philip K. Dick who wrote the short stories that were adapted into Blade Runner, Total Recall, Minority Report, A Scanner Darkly, etc.

First early review leaked Violent as fuck, action packed, an intriguing story, and the leftists somehow didn’t manage to get their dirty pussy paws all over it? Sounds good to me
