Update: Everything went great. He got "great margins" whatever the fuck that means. Wifne was happy about that. Took right at 3 hours. The next step is the PET scan on Friday to determine the definitive treat plan. Not home free yet but on the fucking way.

That means every single cell surrounding the excised tumor was non-cancerous. One cancerous cell on the margin (the edge of the chunk they took out) means the one just outside the margin could be cancerous. Assuming they took a sizable chunk just to make sure. _ |

That is GREAT NEWS! It really is the best news you can get other than "We mixed up your scans with someone else, and performed totally unnecessary surgery because you had no tumor at all".

My wife had lymph node involvement from the initial diagnosis so the time period between her surgery and her PET and full body scans was almost as bad as the run up to her original surgery. Was easily my most anxious time until her recurrence. That and waiting for the PATH to come back. You should post a lot of pron between now and then. To get your mind off of it. But only classy stuff. No even moderately fat chicks. Seriously, if you want to talk, let me know. _ |

Have they said whether you'll do chemo or radiation or both if the PET comes up positive. Chemo is alot better and more tolerable today than when we went through it. Radiation is also much more pinpoint. If it comes to it you're a man's man. You'll tolerate it well. _ |
