I don't care if we have to give up a 1st next year and a 2nd or 3rd this year...Mariota should be in green & white come late April. I don't know how the fuck Woody/Idzik can possibly sell themselves or the fanbase on another year of Vick/Geno/Some other middling jerkoff as the teams starting QB. At this point, my ideal scenario is Woody just throwing the bank at Jim Harbaugh, giving him full control, and doing what it takes to get Mariota. This team needs a major shakeup.

I haven't watched enough of Mariota yet but agree with your premise. No more defense with this piss poor offense. We are in our 11th game and have never scored more than 25 points in any game. Fucking pathetic, yet again.

This year first, next year first, and a second rounder this year. if you start that rookie Qb , there is a good chance you could be e giving up a very very high draft choice in 2016. If some team falls in love with Mariotta that might not even be enough compensation it would cost to get Mariotta. That Steelers win is going to come back and bite the Jets big time. ( might have been in position to get him with their pick). Might be better to bring in a veteran( like Sam Brasford) and look to add a developmental Qb some where in the draft.

It's worth the risk The Jets are rarely in position to be within striking distance of a legit, franchise QB prospect in the draft. Even when we suck, we don't suck enough. We usually end up as a 5-11/6-10 type team picking at the tail end of the Top 10 or just outside of it. If the Jets are picking in the Top 5, which all indications are that they will be, then they need to show some balls and go after Mariota hard.

Mariota would be huge, I don't know if we'll be able to get him, honestly. If Connor Cook comes out, I'd love to have him. I think the UCLA kid is coming out this year too.

If Dunbar stays with the 3-4, the raiders would be interested in Coples to play RDE and he is sorely being misplayed at OLB. I would think the raiders would go down to 4-6 for 2015 #1,#2, coples and a #3 next year. Jacksonville will probably want more in picks as coples is not needed. Jacksonville IMO is the worse team for the jets to have the pick. They need OT, corner and RB all of whom will be available later in the top, but they would most likely not want to deal with tenn which is in the jets favor.
If the raiders come out with 1-Cooper, 2-Peters, 2-AJ Cain, 3 Clive Walford and Coples this year that would be a good haul. Then throw in 60 mill of cap space and doormats not longer.

I know they are the Raiders, but why would they want Coples and a 3rd round pick in 2016 over a first round pick in 2016? Coples and a 3rd isn't even close to being equal value to a first round pick.

I don't want Mariotta or Winston in the top 5. There is way too much risk with picking a skinny spread offense quarterback whose best asset is his running ability in the top 5. RG3 was a similar (but better) prospect to Mariotta and look at how the former's career is going so far.
The one thing the Jets cannot afford to do is pick in the top 5 and not come away with an impact player. Honestly, I'm leaning towards picking Cooper more than ever. Cooper may never be Randy Moss, but he is a very safe bet to be a pro bowler in the future.

Because I dont think they will get all that. The trade has to be made, Carr is there and they wont keep both. With Winston in the wings teams will be asking is Mariotta worth the trade up cost keeping the bidding down

Mariota Looks damn special... a blend of Kapernick (size, speed, athleticism) and Aaron Rodgers (arm, accuracy, vision).... There is no comparison with Winston, he's at a different level IMO.

A few weeks ago I was on the Wintson/Mariota bandwagon. Either one, I didn't care. I've started watching each guy much more closely over the last month. Now, I really don't want anything to do with Winston.....not because of his off the field stuff, but because I see a lot of Geno Smith in him. Questionable accuracy at times and even worse decision making at times. It's the decision making that really scares me with him. We have to do whatever we can to make sure Marcus Mariota is a New York Jet next year.
