they're ridiculous religious fanatics - why do you ask? It goes to your first point. Whether you agree or disagree with a particular viewpoint the fact of the matter is they were held at that point in time. Where do you stop? Who gets to decide? What's next? The slave markets in Charleston? Mt Rushmore? Are you going to destroy all of Ancient Rome because of slavery? me personally? nope. I object strenuously to this "mob rule" bullshit of the left. If towns or states vote to remove statues, fine. But a mob just tearing them down? Hell no

TBH, the Democratic Party should be torn down, given their history on this subject

I can tell you..this leftist shit is alienating many of us . I have tried to be open minded, fair, hell I even funded a minority scholarship at our local university. I mean funded, Like a 50K commitment. I do pro bono tax work for 2 minority non profits. No more.... f or me, I'm tired of being presumed a racist because I voted for Trump. We hear nothing about Chicago, teen pregnancy, 70 percent unwed births etc.. all behavior that leads to the poverty they say we subject them to. They can tear down a statue, get a black man elected in any office and nothing will change until behavior changes. On NPR I heard a speaker , a black resident, talk about how Detroit is so much worse now that the events of the 60s put the left in charge. I believe Trump should have been more vocal yes. Lest we forget how Obama basically supported BLM and the shooting of police. You haven't been keeping up: you're presumed a racist because you're white. Racists are easier to spot this way.

At some point, soldiers who had sworn to defend the US Constitution betrayed their vows (Lee, Jackson, et al) and became traitors. They killed Union soldiers, as the Rebels were defending, among other things, slavery. So having statues of them in public places honoring them? I can't get on board with that. I get it that this was part of the healing process during Reconstruction but it was not a good idea.

You do know that without slavery the The Constitution wouldn't have been ratified right? From a Southern perspective, they were betrayed. I'm not defending slavery, but history is not black and white. You do know we have Confederate soldiers buried in Arlington cemetery right? Do we dig them up?

If my local tax dollars went to that nonsense, Id be voting out whoever made the decision to build that. The point is that this is going to lead to a tit for tat. And where does it end? Are books and movies next?
Trump's point is hard to defend given the current situation and everyone just wanting to hug and be told everything is going to be fine. But as poor as he is communicating his point right now I think he is right. Condoleeza Rice was asked about this a few months ago and she said it is wrong to sanitize history. I agree. You can't unfollow real life. You have people threatening to dig up bodies of generals and soldiers. Its fucking madness. Ironically, the south and other places have been banning books for generations, FWIW.

YOU compared my statement to leftist aholes, which was over the top. Yes, I do know about Arlington and no we don't dig them up. common.

When you cross over to being the decider on what's allowed and what's not you sound like a leftist a hole (your words). Why are you ok with traitors being buried in Arlington?
