Interesting - no thread, still??
Almost like people are afraid of discussing it?
Anyways, some observations:
1. Southerners should not have been allowed to keep or build statues of Confederate war "heroes". They lost. Period. Move on. 2. "White nationalists" is now equated to Nazis. BLM is civil rights, La Raza is civil rights? BULLSHIT 3. I was thinking "when do we start erasing the Founding Fathers from public life because of owning slaves, and lo and behold, some knucklehead is already calling Washington and Andrew Jackson statues to be removed from "their" community park. "THEIR"?! WTF - you mean "taxpayer's" park dipshits. 4. The woman who died was listed as having the following Facebook post a day after the election: "If you're not outraged by this (the election), you're not paying attention". Hmmmm...innocent protester or rabid anti-Trump, ANTIFA agitator? 5. Media conveniently ignoring alt-left goons carrying weapons to a protest, but crucify Trump for all of his comments.
Looks like my prediction of American Civil War II within 50 years is coming true. Possibly sooner.
comments?

How do you feel about ISIS blowing up cultural and historical artifacts all over the Middle East? Not my culture so I don't give a shit. Historical? Name one positive contribution to society to come out of the Middle East in the last 1,500 years.

Name one positive contribution to society to come out of the Middle East in the last 1,500 years. So you're cool with Isis blowing up the city of Petra? Or destroying any artwork that they disagreed with? You're ok with the winner of any conflict erasing any trace of anything they disagree with? Trying to judge people throughout history with today's standards is a losing proposition. You know what they say, people who refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

I'm more focused on righting this country for now. If moron ISIS wants to blow up their own cultural and historical artifacts, fuck 'em.

No, its a loss to the world. And I agree about judging by today's standards. However, I think in any age, HItler is bad and slave owning is bad. Universal truths that are time tested.

Both who killed more people than the Confederacy and Nazis combined. 2. Agree. Ditto for "alt right". The "alt right" died on Saturday. I feel no sorrow for any white nationalist so you can equate them to the devil. But I do see the double-standard and think people will regret supporting Antifa. 3. Agree. The erasure of our founders will happen in our life time. I predict the process begins within the decade. 4. She is entitled to her opinion. And regardless of her opinion she should never be subjected to violence. 5. And some prominent Republicans. Not sure if this is naivety towards the dangers of Antifa or Trump Derangement Syndrome. Probably a bit of both. Antifa has more power than the KKK or Neo Nazis IMO bc they have much better funding. There wont be a Civil War. End of the day the white nationalists planned that event for months and all they got was a couple hundred to show up. They are irrelevant. There aren't even on the fringes of society, they are the edge of the fringe. The media has done more for their promotion that any real supremacist could every hope to achieve. I think the majority of people understand this.

But you can't erase George Washington and Thomas Jefferson from the history books because they owned slaves. It should be viewed in the context of the times and discussed as a part of their lives. Their good deeds shouldn't be erased and neither should the bad.

How do you feel about ISIS blowing up cultural and historical artifacts all over the Middle East? they're ridiculous religious fanatics - why do you ask? It goes to your first point. Whether you agree or disagree with a particular viewpoint the fact of the matter is they were held at that point in time. Where do you stop? Who gets to decide? What's next? The slave markets in Charleston? Mt Rushmore? Are you going to destroy all of Ancient Rome because of slavery?

The Civil War tore this country apart. Perhaps some will look at a statue of Robert E Lee and pine for the old days. Others will look at it and see something different. History should not be shaped by those who come later. Put everything out there and let people make their own decisions. I never understood countries trying to hide parts of their past that were shameful. It is what it is, accept it, learn from it, and get better.

As fucked up as it is now with it's globalist nonsense, Germany has let most WWII concentration camps stand as museums/reminders and has banned the nazi salute. And here we are tearing down statues of people who existed almost 100+ years before WWII.
