What people don't remember is that he was married when he was taken POW. His first wife, a model, was raising their kids when she was left horribly injured after a car accident. He came back and started cheating on her - with now (then?)-wife Cindy, who bankrolled his congressional runs. This ultimately lead to his divorce from Carol. But yeah, upstanding citizen and American hero. |
