He said Curtis Martin is the player he tried to emulate his game after growing up. I see quite a bit of Martin in his game, We have not had a playmaker this since Martin retired and we didn't break the bank for him. It's an amazing time to be a Jets fan.

I love Cowherd An arrogant asshole but infinitely better than any of the fuckhead, wannabe comedians at ESPN. "Jets fans are dopes they don't know anything" That quote should be on the homepage of this site.

I hate the Gase hiring I do believe Mcarthy was best coach to come along since Parcells and he will end up like Andy Reid with a change of scenery. I think Mcarthy could have bought a lot of what he learned in Greenbay to help change the team from the front office to the locker room. whatever team gets him will end up like the chiefs while the Jets fire Gase and Mac and look for a new coach and GM. I think fans will be feeling the pain for a long time. Gase is a better hire then Rhule who is just a glorified team manager but the only other coach the Jets interviewed worth taking a risk was cliff Kingsbury. I seriously hope Im wrong but this guy reminds me so much of Rich Kotite they have the same identical record same ranking offensively collapsed both teams the same way. Im serious when this guy reminds me of Kotite.
They BLEW IT. Just like every time they searched for a Head Coach.
And while Gase isn't another College-tryout, he wasn't their first choice as ONCE AGAIN the Jets wanted to have yet ANOTHER person try and become an NFL Head Coach at the Jets expense. keyword : Try.
Bowles Tried and he Failed. Guess where he is now? In Tampa....as their DC, not HC.
I think we'll end up the same way with Gase. Although he was Coach of the Miami Dolphags, he would've been hard-pressed to find ANY team to hire him for their HC....ASIDE FROM THE JETS.
Don't get me wrong. I'll give Gase a shot but only because I have no choice BUT to give him one since I didn't hire the John Tortorella wannabe. Looks like it's a wait-and-see situation now.
In the meantime, like you said, whichever team is fortunate to have McCarthy will excel imo. Meanwhile, we will have 3 more years of mediocre, nothing-happening Jets football with this guy Macc hired. *sigh*
Only reason to watch next season is Sam Darnold. Just like this past season.
Aside from that, I have ZERO expectations for next season.
Just for the record I don't love this hire, However he did get 7-9 out of a bad Dolphins team that had Brock Oswiler play in 7 games this year. Quite a few skill position players going back to Denver devolped under him. If we're being honest with ourselves this was the second best coach we could of gotten on paper.

Jets third to last team to hire a coach, Leave it to them to fuck this up. Watch all the top assistants go else where cause Maccagnan & Johnson have no idea what they're doing.

I have heard 3 different stories about it. He could be meeting with the Bengals for all we know at this point.

McCarthy left the building. My guess is that he does not become the HC. Still think he does become the HC, Nfl does not like head coaching stories to come on wildcard weekend. Expect it sometime during the week.

In 2 weeks CJ Anderson a former RB out of work has posted identical numbers to Gurley. This has taught us that the RB is as good as the line is in front of him. So instead of wasting 20 million on a loudmouth Bell the Jets should be using that money to bulk up the Oline. If a washed up RB out of work can rack up 300 yards in 2 weeks I think a bulked up line would do wonders for McGuire/Crowell/Cannon and a draf tpick or free agent RB This is partially true. The line needs to be significantly better then it is, but Bell is a difference maker he adds a weapon as a receiver too. They can add both luxary of having alot of cap. Sign Bell, sign Matt Paradis, draft Jonah Williams.

I have a problem with the young hot named coordinator or college coach theory. Remember Andy Reid had a few bad seasons with the Eagles got fired for a young big name coach Chip Kelly and that was a train wreck for the Eagles while he was there? Then Andy Reid got a fresh start with a young team and look where they are now. Chip Kelly was not a good fit at all in the NFL. I think many folks knew that and were not surprised by his demise. The point I wanted to make was that we should not limit our coaching search scope to any one kind/type of coach. We should interview any and all that have a solid background in coaching and teaching. We don't need the head coach learning how to be head coach on the fly while trying to develop a young qb. I know going for the young offensive minds is trendy right now, But I think it's better for the Jets to go after a good coach with a proven track record who needs a fresh start. Just my opinion

I have problems with the proven coach theory. How many coaches succeed with multiple teams? Why did they leave their current teams and were the problems their fault? The Raiders got a proven coach and look where they are. I don't know who the next great coach is but I think they need to look at all options not just proven coaches. I agree. We'd have missed out on McVey and Reich. I have a problem with the young hot named coordinator or college coach theory. Remember Andy Reid had a few bad seasons with the Eagles got fired for a young big name coach Chip Kelly and that was a train wreck for the Eagles while he was there? Way better then Mac He is the one that built the Raiders roster Mack, Amari Cooper, Carr . He got screwed too its Grudens ship and there cant be 2 captains on a ship. THIS! Reunite him and Mike McCarthy he was the Packers President of football operations from 1994-2011. Went to the Raiders took over a team with low cap space no draft picks in the first 2 rounds his first 2 years got them to 12-4 by year 3. Won executive of the year and building to something till the rug got pulled out from under him.

Mike Shanahan - Offensive guru - Super Bowl pedigree - Plenty of front office experience - Knows how to assemble a FANTASTIC offensive staff - Changed his entire offense to suit gimbacony RGIII, who had the most efficient season by a rookie QB in history - Drafted a legit franchise QB in the 4th round (Cousins) - Runs an incredibly balanced offensive system - Doesn’t take shit from anyone - Is one of the most connected guys in league history - Produces 1,000 yard rushers like it’s no sweat off his balls - Darnold would be virtually guaranteed to develop into a Top 10 QB Do we not remember RG3? PASS!
