eeping Garf on in any way is just a another half assed measure this franchise can’t afford. Rumor has it that Wang gave Garth a long term extension before selling the team, which could explain keeping him on, but in a different capacity other than GM. I would rather see him out of the organization, but I could live with it if he is no longer in charge of the roster. Who knows, maybe he is qualified to make coffee for a new GM. Or pick up his dry cleaning.

Great season so far, but last night's loss was brutal. An awful lot of good was undone by the bullpen in one nightmarish inning.
4 hits by Cabrera, two manufactured runs by Lagares, couple of RBI base hits by Frazier, dominant outing by deGrom, all for naught after that 8th inning meltdown. Its only April, but tonight is probably as big a game as you could play this early. It would be a great sign if they can bounce back and get back in the win column tonight.

A glimmer of hope, perhaps??? www.sny.tv/islanders/news/islanders-looking-to-hire-top-hockey-executive/272574748Islanders looking to hire top hockey executive By Chris Botta | 3:40PM
Co-owners Scott Malkin and Jon Ledecky are in the process of identifying a top executive to join the Islanders' hockey operations department, two NHL sources confirmed on Tuesday to SNY's Point Blank.
Since current Islanders President/GM/Alternate Governor Garth Snow has not been relieved of his duties more than a week since the end of another disastrous season, it is believed that the new hire would become Islanders GM while Snow would remain President (or given a new title).
The process includes asking other NHL teams for permission to speak to some of their executives. Among those expected to be on Malkin and Ledecky's list of highly-regarded hockey people to interview are Julian BriseBois (Lightning), Paul Fenton (Predators), and Tom Fitzgerald (Devils), who are assistant general managers with their respective clubs.
One source said that Malkin and Ledecky will wait for the completion of the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs -- to see which executives become available -- before intensifying the process. A conversation with Maple Leafs GM Lou Lamoriello, whose son Chris is the Islanders' assistant GM, should also be of interest to the Islanders' owners if the legendary ex-Devils boss becomes available.
Many of the top candidates will not be interested in joining the Islanders unless Malkin and Ledecky give them complete autonomy of the hockey operations.

Garf and Doug should have been fired mmediately after last nights game. Instead, the rags fire Vigneault less than 24 hours after their last game for missing playoffs once in 5 years. Another kick in the face to Isles fans. Garth will be back. Might as well get used to the idea. JT is gone, but Garth and Doug will be back.

Just what we needed -- a late goal to extend the season by a few minutes. Watched the 3rd period & OT tonight -- had to watch in case this is it for Tavares who had the OT game winner. Will it be his last as an Isle. Just hoping this was it for Garth and Dougie.
How the fuck is Nick Leddy going to end the season with the worst +/- in the NHL. -42. Another fun fact from the Detroit broadcast team. Our 73.5% PK is the worst PK in the NHL since the 88-89 season. Almost 30 years.
If JT is back, and Garth and Doug are both gone, this cesspool of a season will have been worth it. However, it likely will be the opposite. So long, JT, and Garth gets to continue with his 20 year rebuild plan. Gotta love this team.

Don’t know if it’s coaching or the players, but the amount of standing around they do in their own zone is incredible. Like one f the first rules in hockey is KEEP YOUR FEET MOVING. Unreal. You are still watching them? I don't know if that makes you a good fan or a glutton for punishment.

Thomas Rawls signed. We'd better not move out Powell. Travis Swanson visited today also. Could push Long to LG and Carpenter off the team? Swanson would be a nice addition. Would add some flexibility and depth along the OL, and then maybe we could get a pick for Carpenter.

Lith, you follow Staple o Twitter? Now that he’s not at Newsday, he can write what he wants. Yeah. Don't subscribe to the Athletic though, so I just get to see his little teasers but not the full article. Just can't wait for the season to end at this point -- have not watched a game in about a month, which is kind of sad that it may be Tavares last few games as an Isle, but I have no interest right now. Garth has finally got to be gone after this shitshow of a season, right? How could Ledecky possibly justify bringing him and Weight back?

LOL. Chris Johnson making better decisions than Mac. We are fucked come draft day with this moron in charge. And this chump is picking our franchise QB? I like the trade. I like the fact that we got aggressive and moved into position to take one of the top guys without giving up next year's 1. I just wish I had more confidence that Macc would pick the right guy, and that Bowles and his staff will be able to develop the guy.
