If that’s the case, then Eli definitely gets in for beating the undefeated shitbags. And also wasn’t that the game with the biggest point spread for the Super Bowl, so far?

Namath is in the HOF and Namath, outside of one big Super Bowl win, was a mediocre quarterback. Even in that game Namath didn't distinguish himself. y that standard, if Namath is HOF, then Manning is a slam dunk.

Describing Namath as a mediocre QB isn't accurate. The injuries did him in, the boozing and carousing didn't help either.

If a guy doesn’t make an absurd catch against his helmet, Manning does not get in.
But he will definitely get in.

Namath was one of the first cultural icons to come from football. And the win, which he guaranteed, led to the modern NFL.

All those HOF QB's from 60s n 70's have career completion percentages that are very low compared to today's gold standard. Mel Blount would bust your face, just because. CB's had lots of leeway back then

The standard in the 60s and 70s for completion % was around 50? Maybe 32Green can help with this question? ?

I'm on the fence. You take away 2 plays (one which was dumb luck) and his career looks mighty average. I'm trying to think of a HoFer who you could do that with. Namath might be close...take away one game and his career is just OK but there is historical significance that stats don't measure. And Namath was a huge personality who transcended the game. Eli seems like a good guy but boring as hell. But as you say he did win 2 SBs against the evil empire. I'll take dumb luck over a well documented culture of cheating spanning Beli's entire tenure as HC....a tenure that also included Tom personally penalized (pun intended) for cheating. When the time comes I will have a real problem seeing Brades go in. Its tainted, all of it. We should have an annual Hampur HOF pilgrimage where we all bring asterisk stickers and put them next to all the Pats* names and stats.

He'll get in ... but he doesn't deserve it any more than Phil Rivers ... maybe less than Rivers. His two superbowls were definitely due to defense. And especially in the first one where Justin Tuck should have been MVP ... but ... he'll get in because of his connection with the Giants and team owner Mara.
