The jets should hire the HC of the University of Alaska. Or Alaska State. Only he can prepare them for all the sub zero games they will be playing in Nome. Frozen Tundra of Lambeau field? Ha! They ain’t seen nothin’ yet.

“I have no interest in coaching,” the Hall of Famer told ESPN in a report published Sunday. “I have too much respect for the coaching profession to talk about a job that isn’t open. From that perspective, any job that is open, I have no interest in coaching.” Perhaps left himself a small window open when the Jets hc job officially becomes available? Yeah that was a whole lot of double-talk. "I have no interest in any of the jobs that aren't currently open" So we know he's not interested in the Texans job, as thats the only job thats open right now.

But yeah, I agree with you. He’s leaving the door open a little.

I'm not sure what Jon Fox is doing but he had success in Carolina and Denver, the Bears not so much. May be worth kicking the tires on him when/if Gase is shown the door. Proven HC experience, success with two NFL teams, seems to be respected by his peers. In my mind, a HC needs to be more of a manager, not calling the plays but managing who is calling the plays, setting the defense, getting the correct personnel on the field and making sure the coaches assigned these tasks are doing it correctly. I don't think the Jets next HC should be learning on the job. The Jets need a proven manager and someone not afraid to set his coaching staff and players straight.

You don’t fuck around with some assistant coach The Jets need a proven, figurehead at HC who can change the culture. You go out and do what it takes to land a Bill Cowher or Jim Harbaugh and pay what is necessary for them to assemble a quality staff of assistant coaches. Hell, I know a lot of fans would feel let down by the move, but if we can’t land a Cowher or Harbaugh, then I wouldn’t even be against hiring a guy like Jason Garrett. He may not end up getting us to the promised land but at least he’s even keeled, knows how to run a competent offense and you don’t have to worry about him potentially ruining Lawrence. Jason "Creepy Smiley Face" Garrett?
So in essence we go from Googly-Eyes to "Creepy "Hey I noticed you dropped the soap" Smile"?
Well at least he's an experienced HC.

I’d absolutely take Garrett if Harbaugh/Cowher are off the table and I’m left with nothing but a hope and a prayer that the next in a long line of slapdick assistant coaches will be the answer to our prayers. Like I said, Garrett may not get the Jets to a Super Bowl within 3-4 years but at least I have a good amount of confidence in him not chopping my prized QB’s balls off and dicking him into the dirt ala Gase & Darnold. The dude has 15 years of experience as an NFL QB, a decade of NFL HC experience and has produced more than his fair share of Top 10 offenses during that span. You could certainly do worse. And we usually do.

Personally, I'd proceed by having Makki Becton kick me in the nuts as hard as he could, because ultimately that's how the Jet's HC selection will end up.

Jets usually get their coaches from Willowbrook; Garrett is too darn refined for our arc.
He'd turn us into the Giants. I couldn't live with that.

I spit balled this list and there are some real bums on it but just wanted to put the names out there. Some are assistant coaches or coordinators or college coaches, others are doing television, some are sitting on the couch (for good reason). However, here's some of the guys teams may look at when replacing their HC:
Josh McDaniels Wade Phillips Matt Patricia Ken Whisenhunt Rod Marinelli Todd Haley Mike Munchak Norv Turner Bill Callahan Leslie Fraiser Bill Cohwer Tony Dungy Jim Schwartz Jon Foxx Rex Ryan Mike Pettine Jim Mora Jr. Dennis Green Steve Mariucci Brad Childress Jim Harbaugh Mike Singeltary Brian Billick Jeff Fisher Jason Garrett Bill Parcells (Age 79)

Are you trolling, man?
Dennis Earl Green (February 17, 1949 – July 21, 2016)
On July 21, 2016, Green died at the age of 67 due to complications from cardiac arrest.
So unless you're referring to another Dennis Green, that was not exactly stellar research you did there. lol.

He would still win more games over the next 2 years than Gase has

Well technically, he wouldn't since the Jets won a game but I get the humor.
