If Darnold is traded, which QB do you want? I’m on record as saying I want Wilson. I hope Darnold is traded and I agree about Wilson. His injury history is beyond overhyped right now although I get the build issues. Kid sure spins a sweet looking ball.

Watson But yes I want Wilson if not. But I don't think should trade Sam if picking Wilson. Give him a year and train Wilson. Find out for sure. Then if they both good, trade Sam for a million picks And if Sam sucks you get nothing for him. That's ok. After this game DRAFT FUCKING SEWELL

btw congrats to Steve McClendon on getting a ring. He learned of his trade to the Bucs the night before a game and chose to play one last game with his teammates in NY.

How many others had Slater rated higher?

No idea, but JD wanted to hire Jeremiah, so I'll take that into opinion. They both sat out last season.

And we'd get extra picks. And Slater can play all 5 spots along the OL, but stick him at either guard spot or center, and you have a potential all-pro for a decade. You’d also be hard pressed to find a better fit for the outside zone scheme we’ll be running. If we decide to roll it back with Darnold and trade down into that 6-10 range, then Slater and Pitts would top my wishlist.

I think this is all the more reason that, short of a blockbuster deal, the Jets should reset with Darnold for another year. If there wasn't a lot of interest, that would be telling IMO. Very torn about this. I wanted this kid to succeed (duh) but I also fear they have ruined him. Bad Oline and lack of targets aside, it also seems like the self-inflected stuff really hasnt improved. On the bright side, the absence of Gase and his bizarro aura can only help him. This is what gives me pause. I understand things sucked around him, but there have been too many WTF throws even when things didn't break down that make me wary of moving forward with him. At the very least, legit open TC competition. Then again, Eli had WTF throws all the time too.

I think Darnold stays there won't be another QB drafted. In other words it's all in on Darnold if he stays I don't know what the QB Class of '22 looks like but if the team uses picks to get better for Darnold and he still shits the bed, there will be chances in the future. I'm not looking like the QB position is a "must have" in the draft and/or trade. That being said, if the right trade or draft pick is there, do it.

Maybe is we trade down a little this year we can grab more draft capital if we need it next year. If we Keep SD we need to upgrade almost every spot on the Oline. A legit #1 WR as well.

And like Hotman said, after watching an excellent QB like Mahommes struggle due to lack of protection, it sort of puts things in perspective about why Darnold struggled even more. It ain't sexy, but draft OL and then skills guys, roll with Darnold for another year.

Every QB struggles when his OL plays like turnstiles. Even Brady. Sam struggles even when he is getting good protection. The goal should be getting a QB and protecting them. Also, KC's OL was decimated with injuries. I didnt even think Mahomes played bad. He was still throwing strikes and looked like he was turning double plays. I came away from that game even more impressed with him to be honest.
If the choice is between Sam and drafting a QB I am pretty much indifferent. I see both sides. They both have the same chance of succeeding imo. I may lean towards draft bc it resets us with a QB on a rookie contract. I may lean towards Sam bc there is always a chance we draft someone worse. But the data shows that after 3 years a QB is pretty much what they are. There are some exceptions.
If someone offers us a first-rounder for Sam I think that may be too much to turn down. Another first round pick and resetting the compensation at the position. Douglas and Saleh would basically have a clean slate but then the honeymoon is truly over for both.
If there is a chance the pipe dream can become a reality then I would bet the farm bc if Douglas cant hit on picks outside the first round this is all moot anyways bc you need to do that in order to be a contender.

If JD & Saleh decide to roll with Sam, they better hope he doesn’t suck ass again. Because, if he does, he is worthless.
If they like one of the QBs, they have to take him. Picking in the top 2 is not someplace we want to be again next year.
They better get this right or we’ll remain in QB hell.
