Only Namath can break the curse Apparently Namath was getting a lot of hate behind this, so I figured I should share this from a guy defending him. Namath was off the charts in so many ways.

Dont want any part of Rodgers (or Brady for that matter) but hate towards Namath is misguided at best. His impact on the Jets and the NFL was beyond the game itself, sort of a cultural phenomenon that the game needed at the time.

He gets so much disrespect from the modern sabermetricians bc of his stats. Really shows how ignorant these people are.

Let's say the Jets get Rodgers and he gives them two good years and during the 3rd year Zach Wilson figures it out and becomes an NFL QB after learning under Rodgers. Kind of pollyannish but how sweet would that be?

here's how i see the rogers situation
if douglas believes that zach is just still too raw and can be salvaged, bringing in rogers is like a 2 for one
word is rogers and wilson have a good relationship already. mentor/mentee stuff. if the kid sits behind rogers for 2 years, sits in the qb room with him and hackett for 2 years, learns from him, maybe his brain catches up to his arm
after 2 years when rogers leaves, maybe the jets transition to their "qb of the future" without having to trade the farm again or waste another high draft pick
if that's the way the jets are thinking, they gotta pay rogers and get him in here
