It's truly sickening that Goodell has the power to sweep this under the rug. YEARS of systematic cheating, not just one game. And his influence on the media is just as disgusting. Commentators everywhere are talking no big deal. Yes, the ones you'd expect are screaming but very few are saying pull their title. All the reasons for the year long NO suspensions are here, except player safety perhaps.
The Cheating Tax: If all that happens is fines\picks then the NFL is saying to all teams: "hey, we don't care if you cheat as long as you are willing to pay some money and give up a draft pick." What team wouldn't gladly pay the tax to get into the superbowl? Boweles better start getting creative 'cause this sport is heading to "he who cheats least comes in last."

This is making its way into the mainstream. On Sirius NFL Radio Ross Tucker and former Raider player were talking about the Pats amazing ball security stats and their relationship to a deflated ball.

www.sharpfootballanalysis.com/blog/?p=2932This is astounding enough to warrant its own thread. It's now obvious this has been going on for years. Outliers at 16,000 to 1.... wow.... you get a Rep and a Like. Great post. Read the whole thing... I really hope this article gets some play... someone call Fatcessa and tell him.

The bottom line is Kraft knows how to leverage his fortune, our clueless loser owner "Woody" does not. That is why the Jets organization is going to get hit hard for "Ruprecht" Woody Johnson running his stupid upper-deck-mentality mouth, while the sophisticated Robert Kraft will ensure that his team escapes any real repurcussions. As a Jets fan, this enrages me to no end; as a peer to Mr. Kraft, I understand it completely.
Go Jets.

Richard Neer on WFAN was quoting statistics from this article about 7:30 pm. This is great to hear. I couldn't believe these statistics when I first read them. Seeing visually how much of an outlier they are makes one incredulous that nobody had even thought to question their lack of fumbles, even before the deflation was discovered. Fumbles should be one of the most variable statistics, simply because so many different players touch the ball, and roster turnover each year is so high. There is no way to ensure that even with a skilled roster you won't have "one of those years" where your RB or WR coughs it up a ton - especially if you're an outdoor team in cold weather. You can have a skilled roster and fumble less than other teams, sure. But when you plot out the Pasterisks fumble rate their data point is comically outside of the curve. There is no systemic way the Pasts can explain being not only the team that has fumbled the least since 2007 without a single "down" season, but fumbling so little compared to other teams that the odds are 16,000:1 that the outcome is through random variance alone. 16,000:1. This makes the story so much bigger than just this one season. It also instantly disproves the idea that other teams were deflating balls to any advantage during this same time. The more media exposure these statistics get, the better.

Apparently Fran Tarkenton skeptical Q: What are your thoughts on `Deflate-gate,’ Fran?A: “This has been going on for a lot of years. We always rubbed the balls down and got them ready when I played. But we didn’t, in my era, deflate the balls. When you deflate the balls, it’s easier to throw it and easier to catch it. And you don’t fumble as much.“It is wrong. And the NFL has said nothing. Nothing.” Q: Do you think Brady ordered the code red! had anything to do with it?A: “The thing that I know is that when we would get the slickness off the footballs, I touched every ball before the game. I was in charge of that. They didn’t rub the footballs more than I wanted or less than I wanted. I took charge of that. Today, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, all those guys, I guarantee they make sure those footballs are exactly how they want them. “Nobody put a needle in that ball to reduce the air out of it without Tom Brady telling them what he wants. Without him instructing it. Impossible to do. Not going to happen.” Q: What did you think of his press conference last week then? A: “I think it was a typical NFL press conference. They had coached him and coached him what to say. And I would say the league office was involved with that press conference. They haven’t addressed the issue. Nobody has identified who was responsible. This is a typical NFL coverup. And they aren’t going to say anything about it until after the Super Bowl because how will the Super Bowl be with Belidick and Brady being suspended. I don’t think it would be too good.” Q: Are you surprised?A: No. Not when you see what goes on in the league. Here’s the thing that is the most massive coverup of all time. One that nobody talks about in the NFL. Performance Enhancing Drugs (PEDs) gives guys an edge and they are rampant in the National Football League. And who do you know that talks about it? Nobody.” blog.startribune.com/sports/access-vikings/tarkenton-guarantees-brady-knew-all-about-deflated-footballs

That's weird. I wonder if the NFLPA is concerned that if a player denies knowledge of it and the league has proof he did have knowledge, they could be disciplined for lieing.
