Once again, VTN gets it. Goodell works for the owners and has THEIR best interest in mind. Theres no "conflict of interest"...the owners ARE his interest. Goodells interest is whatever his bosses want. That's not entirely an accurate description of the relationship between the owners and Goodell. They can fire him under limited circumstances but he can issue penalties upon them and even go as far as recommend cancelling their franchise charter (which requires a vote by the owners). Most people cannot issue half-million dollar fines on their bosses. It should be unsurprising that he has a generally warm relationship with the owners and he has to keep them moderately happy with him so they don't vote him out but on the other hand he is expected to be an impartial disciplinarian over the league and when he is seen having close relationships with some teams but not others then it strengthens the appearance of favoritism among the teams. His interest is not the well being of the owners individually and especially not the well being of some of the owners. He is responsible for governing the league and the financial well being of the owners as a collective group. What bunch of hooey. Guy works for the owners. Sure he can hand out $500,000 fines when they let him. That's pocket change and meant to Ballbathere the masses. Do you think at the end of the year all the owners sit around saying "I hope we were fair to all the players." No, they count their money. Every year no matter what they make more and more and more. Dont be a rube.

It's not a conflict of interest to have the commissioner at a super bowl party when your the team that's hosting it. It's a little different to have the Commish over to your house the night before your team cheats in the AFCGG.

You Pats trolls better take off your Brady cum-glazed glasses and start seeing this for what it is. Yeah, Goodell works for the owners but the difference now is there are owners around the league that are livid about this and how the Pats are always cheating. They are going to make Goodell do something about it.

I mean that's not necessarily wrong but find one other picture of Goodell hanging around another owner's private party. Before a championship game nonetheless. Him and Kraft are noted close friends, more than a professional relationship. Hard to argue there's not at least some form of conflict of interest there. Here's Goodell hanging with Jim Irsay (among others) at Irsay's private party before the 2012 Super Bowl. Hard to argue there's not at least some form of conflict of interest with the league conducting an investigation instigated by Irsay. That's a photo op party - part of his job. Very different from having private dinner at Kraft's house and then going down on Kraft with a mouthful of honey. Can't PROVE that Goodell doesn't suck Kraft's tiny dick - it's just an unknown unknown at this point . . .

It's the making Goodell do something about it (and what the "something" is and what the "it" is) that is up in the air.

Doesn't the commish have to schmooze with the owners? Once again, VTN gets it. Goodell works for the owners and has THEIR best interest in mind. Theres no "conflict of interest"...the owners ARE his interest. Goodells interest is whatever his bosses want. You can work for someone and not be best friends with them. Their fraternity brothers and bff's, that's widely known. I'm sure Goodell isn't hanging out at Shad Khan's house on a gameday that's for sure.

Dont be a rube. Yeah, the legal and financial arrangement between the owners and the league is "hooey". I'm sure the Colts ownership feels like Goodell is seriously invested in their interests right now. No doubt equally to Kraft.

When Krafty goes to bat for Irsay when he's popped for drugs, what do you think Irsay is going to do? Its a billionaires club.

Kraft hosted an "AFC Championship Game" party... hundreds of people were in attendance. The local cable channel did their weekly broadcast from the house.
