Why are people still wanting to penny pinch when we have to spend all of our cap space this year? It's so ridiculous. So what if we overpay by a couple of million dollars. We have to spend it anyway. 1. You overpay on some contracts you'll overpay on all contract (e.g. Tannenbaum's tenure as GM). 2. Locking in multi-year overpriced contracts might be fine now when we have the money but we are going to run out of excess cap space eventually and not be able to support those contracts.

Bc over the next two years we have to spend about 95% of our available cap space to be compliant with the cap floor rules. Where have you been?

Snacks should get a new contract this year, he is a RFA right now. Sheldon can't get an extension until after this season. Sheldon can't get an extension till after the 2016 season. You can extend a player after three years. This will be Sheldons third year so you can by rule extend him if the team wanted.

Locking in multi-year overpriced contracts might be fine now when we have the money but we are going to run out of excess cap space eventually and not be able to support those contracts. If you structure the contracts correctly where the bulk of the base salaries are paid in the first 3 years where we'll have a ton of money then we'll be in great cap shape for a long time. You overpay for the big ticket items to get talent in here immediately. Should we lose out on getting a top CB again over a $1 million when we are going to have close to $65 million to spend. And after the $5-$6 million that gets put aside for the draft the Jets are going to have to spend nearly $55 million in free agency this year. You can't do that signing all mid level guys. They need to be very aggressive in free agency this year. It can speed up the process of rebuilding and if executed correctly it doesn't have to hurt your cap down the road.

It's a cash spending floor, not a cap floor. The Jets need to average 141 million in CASH spending over this year and next to be compliant. Cash spending does not equal cap spending.

Go get McCourty MacDaddy! Take a swipe at the beantown fags..... I would love to see us go aggressively after McCourty. Been way too long since we have had a true free safety (aside from a few weeks of an over the hill Ed Reed in 2013)

I don't think McCourty will get what Byrd did last year. At least if you pay McCourty he is still young at 27 and will be productive during the guaranteed money years.

McCourty, Maxwell, Worilds and Franklin
Those are the 4 that I would pursue aggressively.
The additions of the first 3 could potentially fix the problem areas on defense overnight.
