McCourty, Maxwell, Worilds and Franklin Those are the 4 that I would pursue aggressively. The additions of the first 3 could potentially fix the problem areas on defense overnight. That's pretty much my list as well. I'd throw Cromartie in there too. I simply have little faith that the Jets have a single starting CB on their roster right now. We were all starting to get excited about McDougle until he blew out his knee (he's never played a NFL snap) and Milliner leaves each game in an ambulance. We need to get two starting caliber CBs in FA.....Maxwell and Cro should be the two and anything we get out of Milliner or McDougle should be a bonus in 2015. OLB is another need area. We keep plugging in "hold the fort" guys like Pace and Babin. We should go get Worilds and also consider a guy like Dante Fowler or Shane Ray at #6 in the Draft. On offense I'd like to see at least one OG and Franklin should be the guy. Boling from Cincy would be a decent consolation prize but Franklin would really help this team given his flexibility to play both OG and RT.

If he'll come back on a 2-3 year deal paying him around $4 million per, then I'd love to have him return. Any more than that...he can go fuck himself. And I'd still like to draft a CB in the 2nd or 3rd round to groom even if we do bring Cromartie back.

I think Worilds may be a bit too much in that scenario. McCourty and Maxwell along with a Perish Cox type CB would solidify the secondary. You still need to sign Harrison and an ILB. Instead of Worilds I think you can go with a Brooks Reed for less money, and address another edge rusher in the first couple rounds of the draft. Franklin or Boling is a necessity along with securing a couple vet receivers. Royal and Stevie Johnson would be nice. There also needs to be a RB, TE and another vet QB signed. Lots of money, but lots of holes to fill.

Now he's coming off a season in which he was named an alternate to the pro-bowl. There's no doubt that he'll want a bigger offer than what Arizona gave him last year. Like I said, if he'll take a 2 year deal worth, let's say, $8.5 million...then sure, bring him in. But I'm not paying any more than that for a 31 year old CB with hip issues who has always relied on his athleticism first and foremost. Anymore than $4-5 million a year, and I'd rather go after a younger option like Kareem Jackson to pair with someone like Maxwell.

When does the "legal tampering period" start? Is it March 10th when the league year begins?

When does the "legal tampering period" start? Is it March 10th when the league year begins? Three days prior to the start of free agency teams can start contacting the agents of prospective FAs. Nothing can be signed and players can not visit teams until the official start of free agency.

I understand that I'm asking for the date Since free agency starts on March 10th, that would mean March 7th is the date agents and teams can start talking.

Wouldn't touch Worilds with a 10 foot pole
If the Steelers are letting him walk, there's a reason....and last I heard they're pretty good with their personnel
I also think Maxwell will want too much $$$$ for what he's worth

Bc over the next two years we have to spend about 95% of our available cap space to be compliant with the cap floor rules. Where have you been? You keep fucking this up over and over. It's a cash spending floor, not a cap floor. The Jets need to average 141 million in CASH spending over this year and next to be compliant. Cash spending does not equal cap spending. Ok you're right. But the Jets still need to spend roughly $60 million this off-season in cash, after releasing Harvin, to get to the $141 million in cash spending. That's a significant amount. And the will have to do close to the same next year as well. So increasing base salaries for this season and next season for incoming free agents will be key in spending that money. Also giving an additional $2-$3 million on a bonus to a prospective free agent that other teams won't do is just good business at this point. You can't penny pinch this off-season. Their targets should be: Maxwell or Kareem Jackson Franklin or Carpenter Cobb, Smith or Crabtree Worllds Reed Dockett Spiller or Forsett Shaun Hill or Matt Moore Bring Harris back Extend Mo McCourty The Jets could do all of those things and stay under the cap and get close to what they have to spend in cash this off-season. Cash Spending

Between $9-$10 million per year is about right

He also just hired Alvin Keels to be his agent. Maxwell could get 10 million given there will be multiple teams with cap space that want him.
