Is there any way the Jets can cut Harvin and bring him back on a lower salary and not have to give up a 4th rounder for him? That bothers me mmore than spending the money

Reports out of the combine say Maxwell wants $10 million per year. He also just hired Alvin Keels to be his agent. Maxwell could get 10 million given there will be multiple teams with cap space that want him. You would feel comfortable giving Maxwell $10M? No thanks Pay McCourty and find a less expensive CB like Cro, who wants to be here, or Flowers

That bothers me mmore than spending the money Really not worried about the 4th at all......we can get the 4th back with moving back a few spots in the 2nd if need be.....Nevertheless, look at what a 4th has garnered us lately I trust The new GM will be creative this year

That bothers me mmore than spending the money I think that the only way this could happen is if they cut him before the 3/19 deadline per the trade and resign him after the draft.

That bothers me mmore than spending the money Pretty sure I've read that the Jets still give up the fourth to Seattle even if they cut Harvin and re-sign him later. Wasn't it an NFL rule brought in after the Saints stiffed the Jets with respect to Vilma?

Given the cap increases this year and the projected cap numbers for the next couple years, 10 million for Maxwell isn't going to kill you. It's not ideal, but necessary if you want one of the top FA corners. Maxwell is still young enough to play through this deal.

Eagles will cut Trent Cole
Posted by Michael David Smith on March 3, 2015, 5:30 PM EST
Trent Cole AP
Trent Cole is on the way out of Philadelphia.
The Eagles had been hoping to get Cole to take a pay cut, but that hasn’t happened. Now Cole is expected to be released within the next 24 hours, according to Adam Caplan of ESPN.
Cole is a good pass rusher who has 14.5 sacks in the last two seasons, but with his cap number scheduled to be $11.6 million this season, it’s no surprise that the Eagles felt like that was more than they could justify spending.
Eagles coach Chip Kelly, who has been given full control of all personnel decisions, clearly wants to get rid of the aging and expensive veterans on the roster. Todd Herremans and Cary Williams have all been sent packing, and now Cole is on the way out as well.
Kelly is clearing plenty of cap space. He may have plans to make a splash when free agency begins next week.
A lot of teams with cap room, which means a lot of overspending on free agents.

And quite frankly, I wouldn't mind if he trades ahead of the Jets to do that (since it would push another guy like Fowler or Kevin White down to us) or if he traded WITH us to get to #6 and we traded back to get the Eagles 1st, 2nd, 3rd this year and a 1st or 2nd next year. If Kelly uses FA to acquire a large number of players and fill out his roster then it could definitely be the case that he's planning to only draft a couple of players as he trades up.

At minimum you need the Eagles 1st, 2nd, 3rd this year and the Eagles 1st next year. You need at minimum two firsts from that deal. Dropping from 6 to 20 is a huge drop in the first, add in the fact that the Eagles are targeting a franchise type QB which increases the value, you have to make the Eagles overpay for that trade. There is no way the Jets could pass on Mariotta with their QB situation and justify trading him away unless they get well above market value for doing so. I take the Eagles 1st, 2nd, 3rd this year and their 1st and 2nd next year.

Mariota may have his question marks (who doesn't) but the Eagles better blow our tits off with a trade proposal for us to pass if he falls to #6.

Saints released Pierre Thomas. He might be a nice compliment to Ivory and Powell.

Guys....Mariotta isn't getting past The Titans pick......They'll take him or someone will trade up to get Mariotta at 2
These conversations are crazy. This league has guys like Geno and Cassell starting....Mariotta goes 2 even with his "warts" because he gives teams hope
