I think Geno is going to be our QB next year unless something crazy happens in the draft.
Decker, Marshall, Kerley, Harvin and Amaro are a respectable group of weapons. We need to invest heavily in the OL and CB. If we can run the ball and create more turnovers it will help make up for Geno's ineptitudes.

Marshall: "So I'm going from Cutler to Geno? Sweet baby Jesus!" Listen I believe in Geno. He had quite possibly the worst coaching staff on the offensive side of the ball to try and develop from. Wrecks only cared about running the rock and his great defense. Marty Morningweg was let go by Andy Reid for a reason. Geno should of sat out the first season but because Wrecks put in Sanchez in the 4th quarter of a meaningless football game most of these Jet fans are now talking that Geno is a bust. Lets give it a chance see how he does with a guy like Gailey. That being said I am sure the FO is looking into another veteran to bring in so this is really a moot point.

Maybe Geno makes the leap in year 3 behind a solid o-line and with some serious weapons. Kind of a rough baptism of fire what he had the last two years, but if Mariota is there I would love us to pull the trigger on him.

This lowers the chance we keep him, but with our cap space there's still room for him if they so choose.....

I still want to keep Harvin. We have the money and both his and Marshall's contracts are very dumpable. It's March 19th that we have to make the decision on Harvin, correct? If so, that gives the Jets more than a week to see how their Cap is shaking out after signing some key free agents. In other words, if the Jets land a couple of expensive guys (think Maxwell, Revis, Iupati, etc.) and we're consuming 2015 Cap then that might push them to make the call on Harvin. Agreed. Also don't be shocked if we could trade him for a 6 or 7 rd pick.Lots of teams with lots of money. Might be well worth it for a team to give a sixth for him.

Right on carlito We can eat harvins contract and cut him next year for the same saving if we want, the only way the Jets need to cut him is if they value the 4th, nothing to do with money. By march 19th the big bucks will have been splurged and his leverage goes down after being sat on the shelf for 9 days after FA starts.

I believe this is true. But if you're the Jets, you give up the pick to make sure you get the player. Trades are supposed to work for both sides; this is a good trade.
Put me in the camp with people who hope this team finds a way to keep Harvin also. I won't be happy about losing the pick if the salary number stays the same, but maybe Percy feels the pressure of a pending release now that Marshall is in the fold and comes to his senses.

if he were released there's no way he signs with the jets. the new gm is targeting players which is exactly what idzik didn't do.

Great trade, IMO.
I'm not confident they will, but I'm all for keeping Harvin.
