Decided to take a look back at our 5th round picks. We have had 12 5th round picks since 2000. A couple of solid NFL players, but more miss than hit. Also have to keep in mind that the Marshall trade allows us to keep our 4th rounder if we let Harvin go which seems likely: 1 2014 5 154 Jeremiah George LB 2 2013 5 141 Oday Aboushi OL 3 2011 5 153 Jeremy Kerley WR 4 2010 5 139 John Conner RB 5 2008 5 162 Erik Ainge QB 6 2006 5 150 Jason Pociask TE 7 2005 5 161 Andre Maddox DB 8 2004 5 143 Erik Coleman DB 9 2003 5 140 Derek Pagel DB 10 2003 5 150 Matt Walters DE 11 2002 5 154 Jonathan Goodwin G 12 2000 5 143 Windrell Hayes WR It's a good trade, no justifications needed. What I thinks being overlooked is how physical and nasty Marshall is, we need some aggression on the offensive side of the ball. We have looked soft on offense for to long. It's time to upgrade the line and add some nastiness. Then let Ivory continue to run angry and mix it up with someone like CJ Spiller or Pierre Thomas, maybe even a draft pick like Duke Johnson from Miami.

Dolphins, Raiders and an unnamed team offered Randall Cobb as much $48 million over four years, which is extremely high for a glorified slot receiver who has had the privilege of catching passes thrown by Aaron Rodgers through his career.
Maclin and Torrey Smith (and maybe Crabtree) will be rubbing their hands with glee at the amount of money they're probably going to receive from 10 March. In the meantime, the Jets add Marshall for the cost of a fifth round pick at less money than Cobb will be paid by the Packers.

How is New England going to pay Harvin? Once cut, I would imagine the Colts, Falcons, and Eagles would be more likely landing spots. He fits their O's and they have money to spend. How is New England going to pay Harvin? I didn't say anything about them, but I agree that he won't be going there. I can see the Colts and Eagles being good landing spots for him. Maybe even San Fran. Sometimes I hit the wrong quote button when I post on my phone.

I agree partially…Marshall is a bargain, however to say that Cobb is a glorified slot receiver is assanine. He has played outside too, is a great route runner and with his speed can take it to the house every time he touches the ball. You are right about Rodgers being a legit QB but Cobb also knows how to get open and he is also versatile as a KO/Punt returner. I think he is better than Jordy Nelson and say he is worth every penny of the contract he received.

www.newsday.com/sports/football/jets/brandon-marshall-officially-a-jet-praises-todd-bowles-1.10042956Brandon Marshall officially a Jet, praises Todd BowlesBrandon Marshall couldn't pass up the chance to be a Jet. On the same day his trade from Chicago became official, the former Bears receiver told the Jets' website that he was eager to be a part of Todd Bowles' new offense. "Being able to be in New York with coach Bowles, I thought, was an amazing opportunity and one that I thought I couldn't pass up," Marshall said. According to ESPN, the Jets will send a fifth-round pick to the Bears in exchange for Marshall and a seventh-round pick. "At this point in my career, I've still got 10 more years left in me," Marshall joked. "I'm just trying to get better at everything possible. I can still do everything, and I'm excited to do that. There's going to be more on my plate. Paired up with [Eric] Decker and [Jeremy] Kerley, I'm looking forward to working with those guys, and working in this offense with what [coordinator] Chan Gailey is asking us to do, it's going to give us more opportunities to make plays." The 6-4, 230-pound Marshall should feel right at home with the new Jets staff. Both Bowles and receivers coach Karl Dorrell worked with Marshall in Miami during the 2010-11 seasons. "I think it will be a great transition," Marshall said of reuniting with his former coaches. "Coach Bowles allows guys to be themselves. He treats everyone like men and like pros. That's what it's about right there. That's what I've seen work, is when guys feel comfortable coming to work and they're not micromanaged and there's someone there they can believe in, they can trust. He's an amazing leader." Marshall, who will be 31 later this month, has 773 regular-season receptions for 9,771 yards and 65 touchdowns. He had 61 receptions for 721 yards during an injury-shortened 2014 season.
