Saving a 5th round pick and expecting to do better than Marshall is silly I'll be interested to see what a guy like Cobb gets on the open market. If he is signed for $9M per year by a team not giving up a draft pick and we're paying $7.5M and a 5th rounder for a 31 year old, I'm not sure how I'd feel about that. The Cobb situation is different because you are making a longer term commitment to him, Marshall can still be restructured if need be because there isn't any guaranteed money owed to him. Plus, I think Marshall fills a much bigger need on this team. I would much rather see another team give Cobb 9M per year.

Not totally thrilled with giving up at 5th but it's a VERY logical move. Let me ask you this....would you rather have Shaq Evans in the 4th, Jalen Saunders in the 4th or a 31 year old Brandon Marshall in the 5th?I'd take Marshall even if he's declining a little because we know we'll get a capable veteran for at least 3-4 years who will contribute. In other words, he's a sure thing with no bust possibility. We've checked a box at WR....we haven't spun the roulette wheel hoping to hit. Sheesh, when you put it that way! We just robbed da Bears.

LOL, they probably would've taken our 6th, except we won't have one.

Whoa boy! The view from Chicago.... Let's see how easily the Bears replace him, no the market is not 'flooded' with wide receivers. Randall Cobb, (who I bet gets more than 9M), Crabtree and who else. There are more than a few needy teams who will be outbidding you for their services (Colts, Philly to name two). How much cap space do they have? Good luck with that

With Geno? Or it's a nice situation for Mariota to walk into no? I think the O has to be ready made for Mariota ala the Philly Ducks or this guy will be snapped in two.

Even if all of that is true about Marshall I'll still take him as a starter this year over the dregs of our WR corp or drafting a fifth round WR that maybe develops into something.

I like that people aren't obsessing about his being a 'head case'. Since his illness was diagnosed and treated he's really been a much better teammate. I can't blame him for being disappointed with his team last year, with that roster/coaching they wound up one spot better than the Jets! They had high playoff hopes did they not? Unacceptable! (LOL over/under for how many times he says that word next season). I'm sure he'll be more than happy being the #1 media market and won't have to travel to and fro to film inside the NFL.

Good luck with that Exactly Is Marshall a bit of a headcase? Yeah...literally. He has a personality disorder. But he's still a big bodied receiver who attacks the hell out of the ball and has a huge catch radius. And wherever he's gone his teammates have always loved him. He just rubs some coaches and front office types the wrong way because of how outspoken he is. If teams want to pay $9+ million a year for a glorified slot receiver like Cobb or Harvin, then let 'em.

I think Geno is going to be our QB next year unless something crazy happens in the draft. Decker, Marshall, Kerley, Harvin and Amaro are a respectable group of weapons. We need to invest heavily in the OL and CB. If we can run the ball and create more turnovers it will help make up for Geno's ineptitudes. 0% chance the Jets keep Harvin. You're a smart guy. and nice hat btw...
