At this point would you consider FA a failure if Jets do not land either Revis or Maxwell? I would. Only b/c of how much money they have to spend and the fact that it is the most important position on the field for a Bowles defense.

If they spend in other areas I wouldn't mind having a couple of the mid range corners. I agree but part of me would be a little underwhelmed with Cary Williams and Cro. I could live with it if we also pull in a guy like McCourty.

Inquiring as in talking trade or Parnell is a FA? Free Agent.

Best guesses at the Revis numbers based on Maxwell and Suh? 5 years (extra year for cap purposes) $75 million. $30 million guaranteed. $25 million signing bonus. $5 million pro-rated each year. Back loaded base salaries of: 2015 $13 million, 2016 $13 million, 2017 $15 million, 2018 $17 million, 2019 $17 million. That would give Revis a cap number of 18M this year, and would be 38M in guaranteed money with just SB and 2015 salary.

I am not sold on Maxwell as an elite CB. Not sure how he does going up against #1 WRs without Sherman on the other side and Earl Thomas.

I put a higher priority on that rather than CB.

I could be too high on the signing bonus. Peterson only got a $15 million signing bonus. So it could be more like $18 million signing bonus for Revis which would make it $31 million the first year. Puts it on par with Peterson and the inflation of the cap this year.

Lolz So let me get this straight... The Phins cut Hartline, have supposedly placed Wallace on the trade block, and are about to dish out a $115 million dollar contract for Suh? Way to take care of your young QB, Tanny. And we can't even blame Rex for favoring the defense

The Jets must be waiting for Revis or possibly have a deal in place with him already. That's the only reason I could see them not being a bigger player for Maxwell and Jackson before he re-signed. I think that's exactly what's going on. People need to realize that this Revis reunion isn't some pipedream. There's a damn good chance it's happening. IF Byron Maxwell gets $13.5, there's no way Revis is getting less than that. Wasn't the speculated figure around $12?

I think you have remember that the 13.5 given to Maxwell was signing bonus AND 2015 salary, that's not his average per year number.

But since we still have oodles of cash to spend and a gigantic need at CB...I say why the hell not? Throw the bank at Revis and then make the OL your #1 priority. If we walked away from FA with Revis, Franklin, Boling and a veteran QB...I'd be more than thrilled. Then either take Mariota if he's there at #6 or a passrusher like Ray/Fowler. Then find some depth at RB, WR and safety throughout the rest of the draft.
