In a long time. Now I certainly know on paper doesn't mean jack squat, but there are really good pieces in place, and we still have the # 6 overall pick. I would like another OL(Dozier might be that guy) and a rusher, but I think us Jets fans have reason for optimism. A guy like Shorts at WR would be a nice addition as well. I'm guessing we will add a RB in the draft yet as well.
Really liking the roster makeup. If Gailey can coax average to slightly above average play out of one of the QBs, we may be ok.

At almost every position, but the most important position on the field.

I don't think our QB situation is any worse than it has been since Favre.

I don't think our QB situation is any worse than it has been since Favre. haha that's not saying much. These moves are all good. The secondary is night and day from last year. We've got better receivers and hopefully will have a better line. Winning a super bowl with a qb like geno smith or ryan fitzpatrick is next to impossible. I don't care who they have around them.

We need QB to be a game manager and nothing more - I think Geno or Fitzpatrick can both handle that with the weapons they have around them. Throw in some draft picks and you got yourself a stew going

Throw in some draft picks and you got yourself a stew going Nothing is Geno's career has even hinted he might be a decent game manager. The guy is an interception or stupid mistake waiting to happen. Even more so than Sanchez. Fitzpatrick might be a game manager, but really, he's garbage. There's a reason he was traded for a 7th round pick and was odd man out on a team with brian hoyer and ryan mallett.

Hoping the jets can repeat what the cardinals did last year .. Even with poor qb play and different qb every week they won with good defense and big plays on offense .. Stats weren't great but every game the offense would get a hand full of big plays and defense kept them in games

I really think the jets should look at OL early in the draft. Build a wall for Geno and I think he would be okay.

Definitely need to draft some o-line help. I was hoping we'd get iupati, but he was never leaving the west coast. As long as both winters and colon aren't starting, we have to at least be slightly better.

Stats weren't great but every game the offense would get a hand full of big plays and defense kept them in games That's actually one thing I'm interested in seeing, how much of the big play Arians style offense Bowles hopes to run. I don't have the memory to recall what Gailey's offenses were like in that regard in the past. Generally you see a strong D paired with a ball control O. With our limited potential at QB, why not let them try and attack downfield? I'd rather take my chances that way and potentially get big plays as opposed to Geno/Fitz trying to "manage" the short/intermediate game and need to rely on them to lead us on 15 play scoring drives.

Wonder if any upgrades are planned there.

Seattle won that SB solely because of that Defense...
That's the caliber Defense we're really looking to have.. seriously, shit is STACKED. This is awesome.
Especially when you see what Bowles was able to do even with all those injuries... man

I'd Trade Cromartie, Gilchrist, Skrine and Carpenter for a franchise QB like Andrew Luck. No question about it.
EDIT: Not literally trade, I just mean if I had the choice I'd take the QB.

Fitzpatrick outplayed Mallett last year, but O'Brien has familiarity with Mallett and Hoyer from his Patriot days the same as Gailey has familiarity with Fitzpatrick from his Buffalo days. Geno has shown glimpses of being able to be a productive NFL QB, especially at the end of last season. If he is going to make it this being his 3rd year he should start showing some consistency. Maybe Gailey the QB whisperer can bring it out of him. There were really no other viable options out there this year. I'm hoping for a mid range draft pick to sit and learn and take over 1-2 years down the road if Geno can't make the jump.

Build a wall for Geno and I think he would be okay. i'm all for upgrading the oline but genooooo is the reason why the oline looked bad not the other way around. genoooo too far too many sacks and too much time finding someone to throw the ball to. look at the patsies. the ball is gone in about 2 seconds. genooo would have to think about where to throw the ball. and frequently he'd thrrow into coverage. right now the jets got carpenter to replace colon and should be able to find a couple of good oline players in the 3rd or 4th rounds. as for the qb, if mariota is there they gotta pick him.
