there are just so many advantages the nfl can give the offenses before it because ridiculous. they stopped the arm checking by dbs, chucking past 5 yards, head slaps, changed the way the oline can pass block, it's not like the offense didn't have any built in advantages to begin with. the biggest is that they know what direction a play is supposed to go well before the defense does and the receivers are the ones who cut first. sometimes it's surprising that the defenses do so well. and what it really does is open up the game to receivers who wouldn't be able to cut it just 20 years ago.
obviously the patsies were right to take advantage of the rule and the ravens were stupid to not understand what was coming. but still, if the patsies were sooo good why the trickery? good riddance to a rule the cheaters used.

Notice how new rules always seem to be reactionary towards something questionable the Pats have done? How do you write a rule like this? INeligible receivers are really ineligible? but Pats and Pats fans alike believe their "superbowl" is legitimate. And what about deflated balls? There's already a rule against that, and it's getting swept under the rug as we speak

agreed - games are games because rules exist mostly about how they SHOULD be played. And there is another layer of abstraction called SPORTSMANSHIP that is supposed to make up for the fact that games dont generally have all the rules about the stuff you're NOT suposed to do.
The Pats don't really care about sportsmanship, on a team level, and they actively look for any douchey thing they can exploit. And we end up with a rule book that only a lawyer can read and refs that can't even figure out what a catch is.

Cuz it was essentially cheating? The Flats****? No way !! If was cheating there would have been a rule against it. There is now. Count on the Flats**** to do something that causes the institution of another new rule. Not because they're smarter than everyone else, but because they do things that everyone else believes would be classless and unsportsmanlike to do. But then again the Flats**** don't care about cheating, so why would they care about being classless or unsportmanslike

You can have the rings the legacy is tainted Flats cheat, beli-cheat cheats, sparklepony is a tool. "John Harbaugh saying: "We wanted an opportunity to be able to ID who the eligible players were. What [the Patriots] were doing was they announce the ineligible player and then Tom [Brady] would take them to the line right away and snap the ball before we had a chance to figure out who was lined up where. That was the deception part of it. It was clearly deception." www.businessinsider.com/nfl-banning-illegal-formation-patriots-used-in-playoffs-2015-3#ixzz3VRBvnbhL

You were out coached chooch. I guess the official pointing out and saying "Do NOT cover him!" over the PA system was not enough? lmao.

Cuz it was essentially cheating? The Flats****? No way !! If was cheating there would have been a rule against it. So if they had the blimp fly over and direct a giant water cannon at the QB, it wouldn't have been cheating because there's no rule against it, right?
