Mariota, Cooper and White would be my Top 3.
And I think it's going to end up being one of those 3.
With the way our defense is currently constructed and with the amount of dime defense that Bowles likes to employ, I really don't see the value of an OLB at #6.
Would rather take a potential franchise QB like Mariota or a potentially elite WR like Cooper/White and then grab a passrusher in the 2nd or 3rd round.
I also think this is exactly why the Jets picked up the options on Pace and Babin. They didn't like the FA pool at OLB and something tells me that they aren't very high on the Shane Ray's and Vic Beasley's at #6.

None of those receivers are "megatron" like - WR is not an immediate need for this team. Get a LB who can rush and cover.
There's plenty of good WRs that will be available in round 2.

Maybe so, but then again it's not like Ray or Beasley is the next LT. I think WR is still an immediate need. If Marshall or Decker get banged up, then this WR corps goes back to being dogshit. And I wouldn't expect more than maybe another 2 years out of Marshall anyway. Take Cooper at #6, put him primarily in the slot for his first 2 years and watch him feast on LB's and safeties. |

I agree, but they (White and Cooper) would be BPA to me at 6 (along with Fowler and maybe Beasley). I personally don't want Ray,Gregory or Dupree at 6. If we miss at #6 this year it would just be sh*t luck. |

Cooper is a fantastic WR. To me Kevin White is trying to talk his way into being the better pick and I don't like that. Cooper lets his play do the talking. I like his demeanor. Not gonna be mad at either pick though. Honestly, I think Cooper is going to the Raiders and fuck those guys because they're ALWAYS sucking their way just a little bit higher than the Jets every fucking year we have a high pick... and they ALWAYS take the skill position player that I want. So fuck them.

I want a sure shot at 6, and to me its a Cooper (ideally) or a White or Parker. If we trade down I would gladly take a pass rusher like Dupree - I can't see any pass rusher worth a number 6 pick in this draft though.

At number 6 my top choices would be kevin white, Amari cooper, mariotta, and Gurley, in that order. to me white and cooper will both be great but white has the higher upside. White reminds me of julio jones and cooper reminds me more of an Anquan boldin. I think mariotta will be gone by the second pick so I don't think he's an option. Not really sold on him being a great qb either but if he's there you gotta take a chance. if you take mariotta i feel like you would be banking on his brains not his arm. I Would not be upset with taking Gurley at 6. I know we could trade back a few spots and probably still get him but why risk loosing the best rb prospect in the past few years. He can run right by you or straight through you. And I'm pretty sure if you can get a rb like adrian peterson at 6 no one would be upset.

I would LOVE Cooper at 6. Super polished receiver. Good to great numbers at the combine. Supposedly has a freak work ethic. I look at him as about can't miss as you can get. Is he Megatron? No, but who is? If he's Antonio Brown that's good enough for me. I think guys are jumping him based off of what ifs instead of on field production and the fact that he isn't 6'4". He caught 84(!!) catches more than the next guy at Alabama.
That being said, I love Strong and DGB too if we end up having to take one in the 2nd. BPA all the way.

We could split hairs and say one guy has 6.7 grade and the other a 6.6 but my opinion is that these are all guys worthy of Top 10 picks. When I look at it that way I then use need and our overall current position quality as a tie-breaker. Doing that, I lean towards OLB as where I'd go. It just seems like forever since we've used a high draft pick to put a young, talented OLB on the field. With the exception of David Harris and Demario I just feel like we've neglected that level of the defense for a while. I don't want to count on Pace, Babin, or a converted Coples as our answers at OLB. It's close because I'd love to see White or Cooper as the heir apparent to Brandon Marshall but the fact is that we have two quality starting WRs right now and I see us having two "hold the fort" guys at OLB. It would be tough to see names like Dante Fowler, Shane Ray and Vic Beasley at the top of this draft within striking distance for the Jets and have us not get any of them. |

If we miss at #6 this year it would just be sh*t luck. BAM! There it is. Those are the 4 that if you add Winston and Mariota, are the Top 6 for me. Beasley is probably the one guy who people think may be a slight stretch at #6, but I don't think so. He's versatile, a great pass rusher, and can drop into coverage which really helps on a Todd Bowles defense depending on how we plan to address TEs like Gronkowski and Charles Clay. |
