Or maybe he just acknowledges all three suck. Don't really know the deal with The Beard's "injury". Also I guess that explains going after Matt Schaub and not signing him.
That's kind of putting the cards on the table, isn't it?

That's kind of putting the cards on the table, isn't it? as i recall schaub was on quite a few jet fan's short list before he signed with the texans. the best thing it sounds like bowles is going to make a careful decision on the starter. genot needs to have competition. up until now, simms seems to be an afterthought. imo if they don't pick mariota then they will at least pick a guy in the late rounds.

Alot of people have Mariota being a bust,he was system qb,doesnt have a very big arm.I know Bowels wants to add another qb but i just dont see them picking a qb at 6.I think its gonna be a Lb or a Wr.Imo ithink the beard will get the starting gig and hopefully the jets can snag either Petty,Grayson,or Hundley in the later rounds to add to the mix for compition.

I like petty. I would be happy if we come away with him.

I'd like one good starter for 3 years.

Or perhaps the other QB from the state of Oregon. Sean Manion

imo regardless of whether or not the take mariota, the jets need to come away from this draft with a qb. and he can't be some guy like taj boyd who really wasn't picked to be a true starter. where's ratliff when you need him?

I don't think they NEED to come away with a QB this year. Depending on how this draft falls, their picks may not align with some of these QB values. I would rather they not select a QB this year than reaching for and over drafting one of these second and third tier QBs.

Exactly Either take Mariota if he's there at #6 or just say fuck taking a QB all together. Don't see the point in wasting a 2nd or 3rd round pick on Petty, Hundley or Grayson when odds are that they'll never even be quality starters, much less franchise material.

It's funny, someone reads that Mariota is hard to read because he came from a prolific system and they translate it into he's nothing more than a system QB and imagine that he will bust. Because as we all know if you come from a college system that is exactly what he NFL is, you therefore will never be able to learn the NFL game. Doesn't make any sense. About the worst things said are that he may n Ed additional time to develop. And he is far from a weak armed QB. This then translates into Petty is a better pick. A guy universally thought of a a back up QB who may need even more time to develop.

QB prospects like Elway and Luck come around once every 20-30 years and you don't have a shot in hell at drafting them unless you possess the #1 overall pick during that given year. Back in 2012, a team could've offered the Colts their next 10 1st round picks and Irsay and Grigson would've laughed at them and told them to go fuck themselves before hanging up the phone. By all accounts, Mariota has the work ethic and mental makeup to transition to a pro style offense. I've even heard multiple people compare his work ethic and love of football to that of Peyton Mr. Forehead. 6'4 225, good arm, lightning quick release, sterling reputation and character, smart, doesn't turn the ball over and runs like a gazelle in the open field. And we're going to pass on that when we have one of the worst QB situations in the league? With what we accomplished in FA, this team is a quality QB away from being a serious contender. The bottom line is that if Mariota pans out and develops into a legitimate franchise QB for the next decade, then he's going to help us a helluva lot more than a 10 sack a year passrusher. The draft is a crapshoot, regardless of the position. So if I'm rolling the dice, let me bet on the QB.

Forget about a sure thing; with the additions we have made on defense and offense - even with the upgrades in the AFCE, we are likely a 6 to 8 win team; this means no top ten for us next year. I am not saying we should trade up, but if he is sitting there at 6 and we are 50/50 and we don't receive a block buster trade option, IMO you have to roll the dice that he can be a franchise QB. Or, you have to suck for another 2 or 3 years to get another chance.
