I pray to god he is wrong about Scherff, that is just about the pick I would hate the most.

I love Scherff, but I really don't know about at #6. Then again, there's the very real possibility that the Giants take him at #9. I'd take him over Peat or any other OL, don't care what anyone says about OT's being more valuable than interior OL. He's an even better OG prospect than Zack Martin was coming out last year and is an old school, nasty fucker who was also the undisputed leader of that entire Iowa team. Plug and play all-pro at either guard spot from Day 1 and a major presence in the locker room. Essentially, he's Alan Faneca.

He may very well be a perennial pro bowl guard, but I for one think he will surprise people at LT, especially if he ends up at a place like the Jets where he isn't needed at LT for a few years. I still haven't seen an argument that points out why he can't succeed at LT. Usually it comes down to simply saying he would be a better guard. Well, he has All-Pro potential at Guard, that doesn't mean he doesn't have high end potential at LT. So far, none of the First Round Iowa tackles has turned into the cornerstone LT, and that is skewing peoples opinions. Scherff is a physical anomaly and comes from one of the best OL teaching programs in college football. He is still unfinished as a technician, as he was new to OL play when he arrived at college. I'm not going to say he's a slam dunk, he has issues, but he has a chance to be very, very good.

Essentially, he's Alan Faneca. He couldn't sniff Fanecas jock. Faneca was much more athletic than Scherff ever will be. I would hate that pick probably more than other player that has been mocked to us.

We (including me) were saying the same thing about Chance Warmack and Jonathon Cooper 2 years ago and neither is exactly John Hannah. I don't want a guard in the top 10.

OTOH, I do like Lockett and Orchard in the middle rounds

You don't seem to have watched Scherff then. I've watched plenty of Scherff to know he is not in Alan Fanecas class. I honestly like Scherff as a prospect, but one that should be drafted in the late teens at the very highest.

He was a better LT in every form and fashion than Peat in college and Peat is a LT now and Scherff is solely a guard simply because he could be an insanely good guard? I don't buy it.

Scherff is not Faneca.

Picking Schreff at 6 is highly unlikely

Scherff is not Faneca. Actually it's not. It's the ability on my part to differentiate between athletic ability and overall play. I never said Scherff was a better player. You said Scherff wasn't in Fanecas class athletically, which is ridiculous. Faneca was a really good athlete for a Guard. Scherff is a good athlete for a tackle, who may just end up being a better guard.
