It has to be the multitude of plays during the 98 AFCCG. That was the year we would have walked all over the dirty birds and brought home the Lombardi. I can't say that about the other years that we came close and scratched the surface. In 98.....we would have won it all and I probably would have never joined a Jets Messageboard, to the delight of many others. The problem with that 98 game is that we were so bad, that I am not sure there is one play that could change the outcome. 6 turnovers. Would eliminating one really have made that much of a difference. Maybe the muffed Kick Return after Denver cut our lead to 10-7. If we could have gotten the ball back and answered Denver's score, maybe the rest of the game plays out differently.

Sanchez strip sack by Ike Taylor 2010 season AFCCG
We should have beat those bastards but we had a horrible first half. I still think to this day if we get the ball back in the 4th Sanchez would have led the game winning drive..

Not a play, but I also think the decision to move the team to Giants Stadium was a HUGE mistake. So f'in dumb. Our idiot owner didn't like the bathrooms at Shea or some nonesense. MORON! Then he made another brilliant move to hire Dick Kotite, the worst coach in the history of the NFL. Man, it takes a lot to stay with this team. Those years they get close like in '81, '86, '98, 2004, 2009 and 2010, as well as a couple of other times, always bring you back in. Makes me sick sometimes though. However, I will say this, after rehashing those heartbreaking plays that still make me cring and cry, the years they totally suck, like last year and many others, are alot less painful. After a certain point, you just stop really caring and they are in many ways easier then those heartbreaking seasons when we get into the playoffs only to have our hopes crushed every single time.

"It's not about how hard you hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward, It's about how much you can take and keep moving forward".
I pride myself on being beat down as a Jet fan and keep coming back for more, it's a test of character and resilience.
Never a true word spoken by Stallone, just imagine he's talkin to Jet fans who feel sorry for themselves, this is what I want to say to every jet fan that makes our we are a victim and suffer without reason.

1998 leading 10 - 0 in the 3rd quarter at Denver, a flurry of turnovers, 6 total dooms the Jets to a 23 - 10 loss, Curtis Martin turns over the ball, along with Bires, and others. Win that game, and go to the Super Bowl with a loaded team, and Vinny T playing the best ball of his life. It still haunts me, and is the closest I've ever come to destroying items in my house. while the OP hit the most glaring one of the first things that popped into my head was the Keith Byars fumble in this game...then Dick Van Dyke, and didn't Megget misplay a punt or something like that?

Alex Van Dyke - that was a Dick Kotite pick. That stupid f&ck. We had just taken Keyshawn w/ the first pick in the draft and that four eyed absolute moron takes another WR with the first pick in the 2nd round. IDIOT! Tony Brakens was available there and went the very next pick. God, I hate this franchise.
