Sounds about right. He sucks. Agreed, not many sub 60% passers in college become great in the NFL. However, I still think someone will take him in the 2nd round.

One encouraging thing Mac said this week was that they really want to take their time with Petty and really groom him. So hopefully that pays off.

I had high hopes for Hackenberg. He's proved me wrong.

I had high hopes for Hackenberg. He's proved me wrong. Very inconsistent decision making but his OL sure as hell hasn't helped him.

Never liked him and I wouldn't be surprised too see him go in the late first but definitely no later than the second only because he is a QB. Hopefully it's not us because I think this year can be a strong QB class. Goff, Wentz, and Lynch are all very intriguing players going forward. Watched a lot of MS games - you're wrong about Cook. He's the real deal.

This regime would be officially incompetent if they went into 2016 with the laurels all on Petty.
Not saying it's impossible he develops, but we simply cannot bet next year on the hope that a 4th rounder from Baylor's spread is the answer. Fucking no way.

I know they're not the best, but great QBs don't fall into your lap. If we can't draft one I'd say it's 50/50 Petty starts next year. He was very inconsistent during train camp and in preseason. Unless he blows me away I have no problem letting Fitz start the year. We should give Petty as much time as he needs before he's thrown to the wolves.

Yep I like Petty, but let's be real here... The odds of him becoming anything more than a career backup are probably around 10%. I'm sure as shit not banking on those odds. If we're in position to grab one of the top QB's, then we need to pull the trigger. This team has only drafted 2 QB's in the 1st round since O'Brien...and we seriously question why we have such a shitty QB history. I don't care if we have holes elsewhere. You aren't going anywhere without a quality QB unless you have the perfect storm of an all-time great defense and a dominating running game coming together. And as the '00 Ravens and '02 Bucs proved...that shit isn't sustainable. It's good for one nice ride and then you have to blow the fucking thing up. Get a goddamn QB. You can still land a quality OL/RB/OLB in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounds. But the odds of landing a franchise QB in that area are pretty damn astronomical.
