oh brother. here we go again. people are climbing on the petty band wagon when the starting qb is leading this team to an 11-5 record? i agree that fitz is not an elite qb but the whole issue is fitz being good enough to make this team win. and he has helped this team win by being an on field leader. something that genot wasn't. so now people want to throw petty in at qb after one season of bench warming? imo it's a little premature. petty needs to be used in preseason and even in game situations first. and yes the oline needs some serious upgrading but even there, i don't know what fitz' sack count is but it's way less than mariota's or even brady's. also, unless the coaches see something special in petty they ought to keep looking for a qb through the draft or free agency. it looks like there are some pretty good qb's who might shake loose this off season. IMHO, the Jets need to re-sign Fitz, make Petty the backup and get rid of Smith.

Agreed.... No snaps this year..all in next with a better O Line. Gotta have it or he will get killed... Might let him play against Buffalo this year as that game may be meaningless for us

Petty needs to sit 1 more year extend fitzpatrick 1 more year and draft another QB in the draft. I said that I still believe long term Petty was the best QB in this draft I still believe that. The fans need to be patient.

With the way Fitz is playing I don't want to see Petty next year either....
Let him sit and learn...no need to rush

Mr. Johnson was being used (successfully) as a 3-down back tonight. It's no AP body of work, but he's making a case. Think you're selling him short. I honestly don't care. I'm not trying to be short with you, I really just don't care. I saw him play high school and college football probably 100 times more than anyone else. I didn't think he'd be an everyday NFL back, and I still don't. It's entirely possible I'm wrong. I just don't really care though. I hope he becomes a superstar. Fair enough. And apologies to the rest of the board; didn't intent to rekindle the Petty '16 thread.
