VTN-awesome point about Coples, totally agree, he'll be in Buffalo or NE by the weeks end.
Oh and anyone who thinks we did this for any other reason except money &/or he sucks is kidding themselves.

Vernon Gholston vs. Quinton Coples Coples. He registered at least one sack. Gholston is the biggest bust in Jets history.

Gholston is by far the worst pick the jets have made. At least of the recent first round picks.
Not sure how I'd rank the other first round scrubs we've drafted after that Gholston draft - Coples, Kyle Burnt Toast Wilson, Dee Milliner, and The Sanchize.
Not sure how i'd rank the 2nd round picks too - Ducasse, Hill (trading up and with Jeffery still on the board), Geno, Amaro, Devin Smith.
These are some ugly picks.

Yeah, terrible.

Vernon Gholston vs. Quinton Coples Are you serious? Gholston was number 6 overall and Coples probably had more sacks then Gholston had tackles. Vernon Gholston was the biggest draft bust of the modern era and it's not even close....Blair Thomas was better.

It's definitely warranted, but comparing him to Gholston shit is stupid. Is he lacking a strong motor? Yes. Is he an incredibly frustrating player to watch? Yes. He was jerked around at UNC and had to change positions every year. Then the team that drafts him plays him out of position. That sure as shit won't motivate a player who already has motor concerns, but the guy has had 5.5, 4.5, and 6.5 sacks the last 3 years. If a team that picks him up uses him as a 3-4 end or a 4-3 DT/DE he's still a very useful player. As much as I hate the Giants I hope they pick him up. He'd do well there.

Couldn't have traded him to anyone, for at least something? A 5lb sack of potatoes at least? Bowels conundrum: "We could get at least for 50 of the 350 rolls of toilet paper we'll need to ship to London next year"....No? uhhh... "ok, 10 rolls"... No?..."ok, maybe a pair of those disposable doggie shit cleanup gloves"... Fuck it, cut him.

The "something in mind" is the most interesting part of this. ^ Will probably sign one of those KRs we worked out recently - Archer, Demps, the other little dude with the fumbling problem whose name escapes me... Copies was already essentially replaced when Catapano was moved up from the PS before the game. Plus, with Revis likely out this week, the Jets probably won't want to risk Cro on returns so a KR makes some sense. Can't see too many pass-rushers out there that make sense - unless the Jets want to activate Deion Barnes or maybe steal someone off another team's PS.

Jets signed OLB Josh Martin off the Colts' practice squad to fill the Coples spot.
