I get your (and other's) point about his lack of heart. And i agree, his head/heart haven't been in for a long time now. He sucked and had to go.
But this bullshit about disregarding him playing out of position is for the birds. You know better, as does others here who've been dismissive about that fact. He earned his draft stock playing DT... that's how he rose to stardom at NC. The fact that some of you are even bringing up DE illustrates how little you know about where he ought to be playing. He's in an interior lineman.
You move any other DT to OLB and you'll see the same results. So why the fck is OK to dismiss that?
That's simply not true. You act as if he played strictly defensive tackle in College. His numbers at defensive tackle at Carolina were better at DT, but it's not as if he completely fell off a cliff. The main difference in his production is 2.5 sacks. Let's not act as if he was completely useless at DE in college.
Sometimes it's about projecting attributes. If his North Carolina coaches and he himself really thought his future was at DT, then why would they move him after such production?
I don't have the time or interest to get into the Butch Davis saga. You can look it up on your own. I don't care what anyone says - the handling of Coples situation since we drafted him isn't black and white. He WAS misused, and has been ever since. Does that mean he's a "good player" or bound to break out, no. But fuck off dismissing what's obviously been part of the problem.
