He's accounted for precisely 1 TD all season. Not a problem he's done for the season, next man up. Which is -----? Kenbrell Thompkins; Jeremy Kerley? Today Bowles named these two guys and added Kerley playing depended on whether he was hurt or not. When did he get hurt? Also as far as Smith being a poor fit for the Gailey's office, wasn't Gailey already the OC at the time? and wouldn't they have known what his offense would be? Kind of strange to select a deep threat with no route running experience in that case. Fitzmagic was signed to be a veteran back-up to Genope. Genope has the arm strength, if not the brains, to hit Smith on deep balls down-field. Enemkpali's sock to the jaw changed a lot.

I thought of that, but then wasn't the choice of this OC a strange one if Geno was the designated QB? Somebody is the odd man out in this lineup

Fitzpatrick was brought in to go from day one

He got hurt yesterday returning a punt....looks like a calf. So everybody gets hurt on punting duties - then we put Decker out there

Fitzpatrick was brought in to go from day one OK then we're back to square one - Devin Smith a weird draft pick for Gailey and Fitz I dont know how many times I have to say it or people have to see it. FItz does not have a cannon but there is zero wrong with his arm strength he can make every throw. Hes not chad pennington like people make him out to be. During the bye week, Metro polled six members of the Jets offense to get their take on Fitzpatrick. They were promised anonymity so that they could speak freely and openly. “[Fitzpatrick] commands [the offense] so well,” one player told Metro. “In the huddle, the language comes out clean. He understands the playbook, where we’re supposed to be. There’s no hesitation.” Another player said that “he’s like having a second coordinator out there on practice [field] or [in] meetings or a game. It’s really natural to him.” When asked if Smith had the same command of the offense last year and this year in practices and games, the player would only say that “Fitz has the best command of any quarterback I’ve ever played with in this league. It’s phenomenal.” Fitzpatrick’s numbers are slightly better than Smith’s during the first quarter of the season when compared to the same sample size from last year. But the 3-1 mark is better than at any point during Smith’s two years running things. Fitzpatrick has been criticized for showing a lack of downfield arm strength, something that Smith has no shortage of. With wide receivers such as Brandon Marshall and rookie wide receiver Devin Smith — both home run threats — Smith could potentially be an asset in helping stretch the field. “Geno, I’ve played with him now a couple of years,” one offensive skill position player said during the bye week. “And Geno has this huge arm, but he hasn’t learned to use it. Ryan has a stronger arm than people think but his placement is good. And this offense doesn’t ask him to throw it 60 yards down field. Just get it over the top of the secondary, over the safeties when they’re playing deep. He can do that. He’s done it a few times this season. “I don’t get everyone saying he has a weak arm, he doesn’t. His ball placement, man it’s impressive. We haven’t always had that. Some quarterbacks around here in the past, they get you the ball but it’s not in stride. You’re reaching up, going back and it throws you off your route. That can be the difference in a first down or a third down, that little second to stop and get a ball. [Ryan] doesn’t have that issue. He’s placing the ball right there.” www.metro.us/sports/polled-jets-players-in-love-with-ryan-fitzpatrick-not-ready-for-geno-smith-return/zsJojm---i3vM6dubGIgVM/

List of free agent wide receivers from Spotrac. I assume you can quickly take Jeffery off the list - there's no way Chicago won't either franchise tag him or extend his contract. Apart from Jeffery, it's real slim pickings. www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/wide-receiver/Sucks for Smith that he's done for at least 12 months, but I doubt it really affects how Maccagnan approaches the off-season. Yes that might be the worst FA WR class I can remember, ever. (and yes, assuming Jeffery won't leave cause he wont) The young developmental guys further down the list will all get brought back next year by their respective teams. That list is bald.

Plus he sidearms a lot of them, doesn't get them over the defenders' arms and they get batted down. There's no arc to them, just a straight line.

So you're saying he throws a football on a frozen rope? Ill take brains over genos arm strength any day. Or Cutlers or Flaccos. You cheerleaders keep sitting around waiting for the burning 60 yard plays. Watch College football it be more entertaining. The NFL is 90 Percent Brains at the QB position not some swinging dick that can lob a football 80 yards like that braindead fucking infant Geno

PS, it's not just the distance it's the speed with which the throw arrives. His throws look a lot slower, and probably what the disconnect is between him and Devin.

On the plus side - we don't have a deep threat QB.
Looks pretty certain Fitz will be here next season. And it seems Fitz would be better served with an awesome slot receiver than a guy who is going to run 50yd downfield....

Something most receivers prefer. Makes the ball a lot more catchable. But what do i Know
