From what I know of the plot, it sounds just like Episode 4 "A New Hope", but with different characters.

I'm currently debating between going to the company Christmas party or go to see the movie. Decision should be based on the % of your staff that are radical fundamentalist Muslims holding grudges towards their workplace. Lmao! Savage.

What a great movie. New and old characters were awesome and there were a few fun callback characters. Kylo Ren, the new bad guy, great performance by Adam Driver. I'd seen him on a few films before he was announced and I wasn't sure he was a good casting choice, but he nailed it. Can't wait for the next one. Ugh, I hate waiting. The last one I saw was the original back when it first came out. Havent peeked at any of the pre-sequels...Should I bother with this one or do I need to catch up? Answer as soon as you stop gushing like a 2nd ave. water-main in February... Likewise. Sat thru half of that jar jar banks bullshit, and couldn't stomach another minute of the franchise.

Saw this on another site:
"Christmas this year will see a full Moon for the first time in 38 years – and in an odd cosmic coincidence, the last time we had one on Christmas was the year Star Wars: A New Hope was released (1977). This year, of course, sees the return of the franchise with The Force Awakens."

If you guys get this excited over a movie, I'd hate to see you at the birth of your children. Probably need a sedative be just to be in the room. Nerds. I've taken something before all four of my kids were born. Nothing heavy, just a half a Valium to take the edge off. I plan on bringing my lightsaber when I see the movie tomorrow night. This is such a safe place that you can freely admit this here without fear of reprisal. Maybe you should bring a light saber into the delivery room next time?

One of my clients arranged her appointment this Monday around her going to see the movie that same day. She already had her tickets 4 weeks ago and it was in her calendar.

Never been a Star Wars fan -- and I had no intention of seeing the movie. Pretty much ignored all the hype. Got in to Dallas yesterday and needed to kill a few hours, so we went to see the movie. $7 for 3D in Arlington, TX. After struggling to stay awake during the first 15 or 20 minutes -- nothing to do with the movie, put me in a dark room late in the afternoon and this old man's nap reflex immediately kicks in.
Glad I fought off the urge to sleep. Plot did seem very similar to the plot from the first one back in the 70s, but who the fuck cares -- that was nearly 40 years ago. Good movie -- I was entertained for 2 1/2 hours.

Thanfully it didnt smell ar all like a disney money grab.

Jestthings didnt answer my question because I brutally insulted him.

Just got back from seeing it with the three older kiddos. Great flick...Abrams did the franchise well. Leila and Dexter seemed unimpressed at first but really enjoyed it. Simon, the oldest, loved it.
But Jesus. The lights dimmed at 2 and it took until 230 for the actual movie to start. 20 mins of ads, 10 of previews. There were so many commercials, they showed the same Fiat commercial twice. I haven't seen a movie at a theater in a while. Is this the new norm?

You dont need to catch up...unless you plan on dressing up or bringing a light sabre. Then there are certain expectations from other movie goers...so you better know your star wars business.

From what I know of the plot, it sounds just like Episode 4 "A New Hope", but with different characters. Finally committed to watching this, and I couldn't agree more. I have to admit that I didn't mind in the way they were presented, though, with one exception; BB8. The taking of the R2D2 plotline and expanding it over an entire movie was a bit much to look past, although it was tied in smartly. Abrams is really good at conceptualizing a story, but it always seems to me that his plots succumb to boredom/laziness about halfway through. Anyone else see that?
