From what I know of the plot, it sounds just like Episode 4 "A New Hope", but with different characters. Finally committed to watching this, and I couldn't agree more. I have to admit that I didn't mind in the way they were presented, though, with one exception; BB8. The taking of the R2D2 plotline and expanding it over an entire movie was a bit much to look past, although it was tied in smartly. Abrams is really good at conceptualizing a story, but it always seems to me that his plots succumb to boredom/laziness about halfway through. Anyone else see that? yes.. Lost was a great example... Seems like he makes it up as u go along...

ROGUE ONE looks different. It's a feature length film spun from the Star Wars franchise in that it's not an "Episode." A little darker, kind of like when the early Batman movies (Michael Keaton, etc.) were re-thought and darkened in the Dark Knight trilogy.
