This will really wipe the smile off of Cutler's face.
Oh, wait...

Say he leaves the Bears. How does that contract play out with another team.
From what I have heard on talk radio here in Chicago, I think a new team would inherit 2 years / $31.5MM guaranteed. It's actually "just" 15.5 million remaining in guaranteed money for the 2015 season, beyond that everything else isn't guaranteed.

What is actually wrong with this guy? What goes wrong when he's on the field? From what I see I think he doesn't make his reads well. The offensive line also has been bad and doesn't give him much time to do anything. I am sure someone is going to take a flyer on him a team like Tennessee or Buffalo (if Orton decides to retire). But its also possible that the next coach that gets hired there will give him another chance.

What is actually wrong with this guy? What goes wrong when he's on the field? During the game he doesn't follow the game plan and does what he wants. He also has the most interceptions (18) in the NFL. Yes, even more than Geno (12). His attitude sucks too. six more interception in almost 4 more games, but point taken

I have read that his contract has $54MM guaranteed -- which includes his 2015 salary of $15.5MM and $10MM at beginning of 2015 league year plus another $6MM at beginning of 2016 league year. I don't know enough about how it works in the event of a trade, but I assume the Bears would move him (if they do) before the 2015 guarantee, so it would be the responsibility of the new team along with the 2016 guarantee.

You are right, if you look at the year by year breakdown it looks like 2016 isn't fully guaranteed, but actually the guarantees for 2016 kick in at the beginning of 2015. Which pretty much sucks for any team trading for him. Here is a summary from Over The Cap.com overthecap.com/player/jay-cutler/130Jay Cutler signed a contract with the Chicago Bears worth $126.7 million on January 2, 2013. $38 million becomes fully guaranteed on the 3rd day of the 2014 League Year. Cutler’s 2016 salary is guaranteed for injury upon signing with $10 million becoming fully guaranteed on the 3rd day of the 2015 League Year and the remaining $6 million becoming fully guaramteed on the 3rd day of the 2016 League Year. Cutler’s contract contains roster bonuses from 2017 through 2020 that total $2.5 million. Each week that Cutler is active he will earn $156,250 of that roster bonus. If Cutler fails to attend offseason workouts his salary will be reduced by $500,000.

The Bears think Cutler is the problem with their team? L-O-fuckin'-L!!!
How about the fact that their opponents' passer rating is 106.1 (2nd worst in the league) and they're allowing 8.3 yards per attempt (worst in the league). Or the fact that they STILL haven't been able to muster even an average offensive line. That's why Cutler is under pressure so often and why Matt Forte is only averaging 4.1 yards per carry.
They want to make Cutler the fall guy? Trestman might be the worst HC in the league right now and you can count the number of good draft picks Angelo has made in the last 5 years on one hand. If they really start Clausen against that Lions defense, they'll lose by 30.
I'd take Cutler in a heartbeat. He's better than "above-average" (top 10-12) and even at 31, I still think he has the potential to be very good (top 6-8) if given a better line to play behind.

Can't be any worse than what we've got now or could get in FA or the draft. Except for that contract, and we'd need to really shore up the OL especially pass protection
