Since 2001, only two SBs have had a different starting QB for the AFC. This year will, again, be the same.
AFC:
2001: Brady
2002: Gannon
2003: Brady
2004: Brady
2005: Roethlisberger
2006: P.Manning
2007: Brady
2008: Roethlisberger
2009: P. Manning
2010: Roethlisberger
2011: Brady
2012: Flacco
2013: P.Manning
2014: Brady
2015: Roethlisberger/Brady/P.Manning
NFC:
2001: Warner
2002: Johnson
2003: Delhomme
2004: Mcnabb
2005: Hasselbeck
2006: Grossman
2007: E.Manning
2008: Warner
2009: Brees
2010: Rodgers
2011: E. Manning
2012: Kaepernick
2013: Wilson
2014: Wilson
2015: Palmer/Wilson/Newton

the illusion of parity...

the illusion of parity... Exactly. There is no parity. The rules are so heavily weighted in favor of the offense, so unless you have an elite QB, you cannot compete consistently.

Ridiculous.
Real tired of seeing the same teams in the playoffs.

The obvious comes to mind; fuck.
But I ask you this; is this just a reflection of how damn good those particular QBs are (and furthermore, how important that position is for all the naysayers that point to the Dilfer-complex)..
OR
is that also a reflection of how fcking terrible teams are at developing QB talent. Drafting asshole Ponders and Gabberts in the 1st and spending ZERO fucking days grooming them.

There's a parity among QBs in the NFC to a degree, with new guys coming on the seen and either burning bright but short (Kaepernick) or sustaining (Wilson). Cam Newton has also been a decent model of consistency (4 playoff games) but the "old guard" still haunts that Conference like Brees, Eli Manning and now Palmer making one last run at it. And of course, there's Aaron Rodgers who seems to be screwed over by a GB front office that doesn't want to help him and injuries to all his WRs.
In the AFC it's really only those few elite guys, Brady/Manning/Rapelisberger. You get a couple others who dance around it like Alex Smith and maybe, going forward, Andy Dalton, but those guys are it...at least for another year or two until retirements start or Ben's arm falls off.

Can the answer be all of the above. These guys are great -- all certain Hall of Famers. And the position s hugely important -- a great QB covers up for a lot of weaknesses. You get one of these guys, you are in the playoffs every year -- I would add Rodgers and Wilson even though they both lost this weekend. But there is no patience anymore to groom QBs. Just look at the Redskins as a great example. They threw RG3 in the fire, got a great season out of him and his flame has since burnt out, but along comes Kirk Cousins, who sat for a couple years, struggled when given a chance in his first 3 seasons, and now in his 4th season he has emerged as a potential franchise QB. This is one of the reasons that I love the position we are in now (if we re-sign Fitz). No rush to throw Petty in the fire -- we could still draft a guy if there is someone on our board that we like (e.g. Carson Wentz if by some miracle he makes it to 20) and have two years to groom our franchise QB.

blech aren't Mondays bad enough? shit One big glass of Omaha should take care of this! I'm not going to watch any buildup to this AFC championship game. Both quarterbacks have always been on my hit list.

Yep. And over the next decade Brady, Manning and Roethlisberger will be replaced by Luck, Dalton and perhaps Carr.

I'm sure next years super bowl will have Fitzpatrick for the AFC. No doubt in my mind.
