I'd love to see them go for Spriggs in Round 2 but there's no way he makes it t0 50. I'm surprised he made it out of round 1

God damn this team. I probably like Lee a lot more than most people around here BUT, passing on Lynch could end up costing Mac his job in a couple years. This pretty much guarantees that Hackenberg will be a Jet at some point tonight. I doubt Hack makes it to us at 51. And I am not sure how I would feel about selecting him. The talent is there, but absolutely no consistency. One play he makes a brilliant throw across the field and fits it into tight window where only his receiver can make a play and I think I want that guy. Gotta have that guy. Then, the very next play, he will get skittish in the pocket, step up in the pocket to avoid an imaginary rush and wind up taking an unnecessary sack. Given the beatings he has taken behind that putrid Penn State Oline, I wonder if he can be fixed. He is one guy that I have no clue how I woudl feel if we took him until we actually did. I'm not crazy about Hackenberg at all, I just think if you believe the reports and listen to what Mac has said about Hackenberg that they are targeting him tonight. I have to imagine that if they passed on Lynch that there must be another plan at play here. Or, they are in love with Petty and are ready to transition to him at some point this season. Who the hell knows? We will find out tonight.

Woke up feeling good about the pick. I like it, don't love it but I think he's just what Bowles and Mac are looking for at LB. LB needs an overhaul as much as any position so not mad at all. Mac did his hw on lynch so I defer to his Intel on passing him up. Jack's knee is a ticking time bomb for 31 teams to pass on him so not mad abt that either. I hate to say this but I also woke up feeling like Hackenberg in round 2 or 3 so I'm bracing myself for that now. Why, you need 3 Qb's.

I thought this was interesting and I would've loved the move had they been able to make it, its very opportunist of course the source is dubious so make of it what you will: www.si.com/nfl/2016/04/29/new-york-jets-laremy-tunsil-trade-draft-priceThe New York Jets tried to trade up from the No. 20 pick to draft Ole Miss tackle Laremy Tunsil, but the asking price of teams in the position to select him was too high, reports Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. Despite being projected to be drafted as high as No. 3, Tunsil slid to the Miami Dolphins with the No. 13 pick amid draft-night controversy involving his Twitter and Instagram accounts, which were reportedly hacked. A video of Tunsil smoking out of a bong was posted to his Twitter account just before the draft began. Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze told ESPN Tunsil did not deny being in the video, but that it was not a recent depiction. Oh, Manish. Trade up? With who? Price too high? How much? Can't believe SI reposted that

Not a big Hackenberg fan but at this point I can stomach it and let him ride pine for a year. Gruden's QB camp basically showed that his later coaches unsuccessfully tried to get him to change his footwork, really messing him up, whereas in Year 1 it was perfect. How hard is it to unlearn that and undo such damage?

I fully expect the Jets to pick an O lineman or another LB'r in the second round. In reality a case can be made for the Jets to use all of their picks on O lineman and LB'rs. They are, by a very wide margin, the worst position groups on the team.

When they passed on Lynch last night, I thought it meant one of two things, either they just didn't like him to be a franchise QB, or they thought Petty after a year with an NFL team is a better prospect. Had not thought about the Hack angle. I have also read the reports that we like him a lot. If he is our guy, then they may need to be aggressive and go get him. I wouldn't kill them for being aggressive and getting a QB they like. Just not sure how I would feel about it.

Who the hell knows? We will find out tonight. Here's the problem....like Lithfan said....I doubt Hack or Cook make it to 51. There are at least 5 teams who are ahead of us who could target a QB in Round 2 (Cleveland, Dallas, San Fran, Chicago, Buff). That means, at the very least, we need to get ahead of Dallas at #34 to get either Hack or Cook (if you think they're the answer). Per the draft value chart, we would need to give up at least 2 picks to move from 51 to 34. That means a trade involving a swap of 51 & 34 plus this years 3rd and probably next year's 3rd. So Paxton Lynch wasn't worth the #20 pick, but Hack or Cook are worth 2 picks? Considering that Lynch was there for the picking at 20, the idea of trading two picks to go up and get Hack or Cook (who are just as questionable as Lynch) is mind numbing to me. And if we don't do that, what are our other options? Taking a flyer on Dak in the 2nd?....because he won't be there for us in the 3rd or 4th. Taking a flyer on Jacoby Brisset, Nate Sudfeld or some other career practice squad player in the 4th....because even those guys won't be around in the 7th (we don't have picks in round 5 and 6). I've come around on Lee since last night, but I hope every Jets fan is prepared to be in the same position next year that we are this year. An aging below average vet as our starting QB and still looking for someone to groom for 2-3 years down the line.

If they pass on the remaining two QBS this round, I think it probably would be a pretty good indicator that Petty, by this time next year, could be at least a Fitz level starter while they continue to search for the ultimate answer at QB.

What's not bein mentioned here is how Bowles and Mac feel about Geno, they may like Petty long term but I'm startin to think they are happy to role with him this year. In all honesty I would rather go with Geno than Fitz at our "low ball" offer of 7 mil a year. I guess all these question will be answered tonight.

"As enticing as Lynch’s physical skills and potential are, they could not afford to use their first-round pick on a project quarterback who may or may not pan out when they need too much help right now."
This quote from the article is so much horseshit.

We got a nickname for this guy yet? Dare Run against Lee Pee Wee Lee Darron "Half the Hampur Hates You, But Macc and Bowles Love You" Lee His nickname at OSU is Manimal. Lol - fcking terrible show from back in the day. I remember being like "Manimal? Cool shit!!" and then watching it, yawning mostly.... D Lee has a little crazy twinkle in his eye, he looks like a player to me. Complete opposite of somnolent Q Coples.
