Yeah I think Hackenberg if they fix his footwork and some mechanical adjustments he could be a good starter in this league. Not sure if I would of invested a 2nd round pick...maybe a 3rd...but maybe someone was ready to pull the trigger on him in the late 2nd. But VTN said it best it's the o line that concerns me moving forward and Mac should of addressed it in day 2. Are we not nitpicking 2nd vs 3rd on a QB, the most important position, and position of need? Especially when Mcc obviously liked and spent a lot of resources scouting him. So you obviously were OK spending a day 2 on a QB. So that leaves 1 day 2 pick left. I'm not sure the likelihood of a day 2 OT starting in '16.

Gotta love his football IQ and knowledge of protections.
We may have something here, can't understand the hating of the pick/player at all. Tom Brady sucks too when he gets no protection. PSU OL was a disgrace last season.

Does Gruden ever knock anyone in his camp? Gruden ripped his footwork, without really referencing the coaching change that may have influenced it. Not a Gruden fan, but he was semi-tough with this kid.

I'm gonna give this a chance.... 1) Mac did his HW on all the QBs coming out and ultimately came out with the one he liked 2) For the first time in a long time I trust the offensive coaching staff to get the most out of a young developing QB 3) It's kind of refreshing to not see "limited experience, cannot read a defense, not intelligent, played in a gimmicky college O, and never taken snaps under center" as the red flags of the QB we drafted. Hack has very legit concerns but they all seem coachable for the most part. He also possesses some traits that are very hard to teach. Let's see if he's salvageable

Well, technically Gruden ripped his footwork and Hackenberg simply said that he was told to do it. In my opinion, Gruden should have delved into that more by asking why the hell the staff would have asked him to do it. I'm pretty curious myself because it seems like a pretty stupid thing to ask him to do.

Gruden lined up a juicy fastball over the middle of the plate for Hack to explain why his footwork went to shit. I'm not sure how that can be construed as him ripping him for it, if anything it was giving him an out.

Gruden should have asked him why it happened. It makes no sense. I'd like to hear somebody explain it. Hackenberg only said he was told to do it. If Gruden had any balls, he would have asked why. Then again, I can't stand Gruden so the less he spoke, the better.

We're watching an edited piece of film and there is no way the network wanted to see Hack throw the entire staff of PSU under the bus. It's not good business for the NFL, not good for Hack, and it's not good for PSU. They're just protecting their interests and it was widely reported in individual interviews that Hack threw the coaching staff at PSU under the bus and deflected blame. Sometimes brutal honesty is best left behind closed doors.
