My thoughts go out to you JS.
Stay super strong and optimistic around her. Never make her feel any different then when she was well and healthy. Knowing people are sad and feeling pity for you is demoralizing to patients. Show her lots of affection make her laugh and try to bring some normality to her while she's going through this. Cancer is a fucking bitch.

And just like that...she's gone. I appreciate all the well wishes, advice and yes...the jokes. I'll be the one taking the cannibis oil at this point. Her brave but all too brief battle with cancer is over, ending on Mother's Day of all days. I'm happy that I got to spend the past two weeks with her, that my wife flew out with our kids at a moments notice to visit her while she was still in reasonably good shape, and that I got the chance to tell her I love her more times than I probably told her in the past 5 years. She passed away quickly and just a day before her radiation and chemo were about to start. In some ways, maybe it was a blessing. Again, thanks for the support. This is why you read everything before replying. -____- My deepest condolences, I know that feeling all too well the loss of someone you can't stop or help because it's out of your hands. I hope you and your family recover and strengthen your bond. It's moments such as that, that make you reflect and want to be a better parent/sibling/child/spouse/etc.

For all the words I write, and the things I think I know, and all the hot air I often blow, it's moment like this that prove how little wisdom I have to share. I've experienced loss, I know it well, but I have no words to share to every ease one tiny fraction of your despair. And it makes me sad that I cannot say something, anything, that which would ease such pain for you.
It's time like these that words can mean so little. My condolences JS.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Can't imagine what it is like losing a parent and hope I don't find out for a very long time.
I have no doubt she is in a better place.
